Norvell lied about meeting with FSU players on current affairs, and the players are not happy

This is reverberating throughout the state. Not a good time to be loose with the truth about having frank discussions with your players about racism and society.

Word is, recruits were already not exactly feeling Norvell, this may take matters from bad to impossible.

He made that statement for the purpose of chest thumping to make himself look good.

Lost his team before having ever coached his first game.
... but he didn't think his players would see his comments or care that they weren't true? Dumb. That's one way to lose respect from your team before you've even gotten to know them yet.

Very surprising. Not an inkling of an issue while at Memphis that I recall. He seemed pretty savvy on the relations side.

Interesting comments on Twitter from the Warchant.com article. Many fans are blaming Wilson for going public.

Norvell’s lie was public, so I have no issue with players calling him out publicly.

Not sure why he lied, especially in the days of social media and the 24 hour news cycle

Damage control seems to be working. Players coming out in support of Norvell after the meeting.

The problem with his text is the word 'individually'. He sent the team a text - some players replied but the majority didn't. Just like in corporate world. Boss sends out an email saying this is what he thinks. Maybe one or two people reply back 'thats great'. Then he announces that everyone agrees.

In his defense, he made no indication that these talks were in person, one on one. His judgment would have been better served to do so. His judgement would have been better served to clarify how they communicated since he felt he needed to put it out there in twitter world. But, he did not lie.
