For those posters who consistently find axes to grind against individuals previously associated with the University of Tennessee Athletic Department, what is your motivation for doing so?

The individuals range from those who brought nothing but greatness to UT during their tenure there (Tee Martin) to individuals that seemingly just threw the program in the trash, and some that did a little of both.

I am honestly just curious to understand what impulse is driving this train.

I suspect you already know the answer.

I honestly do not. I can understand most of the feelings during the season for those individuals that are currently part of the program, and I can understand some of those emotions spilling into the offseason (individuals still harboring ill-will for Dooley, Bray, Sunseri, etc.). However, I cannot understand constant tallying of "3rd and Chavis" or Kiffin's daily PR blunder, or any ill-will toward Tee Martin (that guy owes UT absolutely nothing).

Fans are irrational by nature and then there's a percentage of them who just aren't very smart even when being rational. Then there's another portion that are rational and smart . . . but they've got a-hole tendencies or are generally just negative people.

You lump the irrational, the unintelligent, the jerks and the negatives together and there you have it . . . The Legion of the Miserables.

Yes, I am in the 'not very smart' category.....and proud of it!

I don't get it either. Why do grown men like to **** talk kids over choosing another school? Several reasons I suppose. Some good some bad. I think allegiances and loyalty turn into jealousy and hate. And a lot of it is a redneck mentality. I really do get tired of the things you mentioned like 3rd and Chavis, Kiffins daily blunder, etc., but I keep checking in here because I love Tennessee, despite the fact I dislike a lot of the fans.

We all probably morph in and out of that category. It's why we boo referees for throwing a flag even after the replay shows that our guy pulled a gun and shot the QB after the whistle.

Some people go through life belittling others in hopes of somehow making themselves look "better" or cool. Ironically, it typically has the opposite effect.

I wish Dooley, Tee, & Sunseri the best of luck. At least they're decent human beings who tried to make it work for the Vols. I agree that people that bash individuals based on their lack of success at Tennessee or choosing another job are way off base.

Kiffin on other hand is one human I enjoy seeing fail. However, it doesn't consume me or make me miserable if he does well. Seeing a dishonest, self serving, person of low morals that screwed my alma mater get spanked by Ga Tech was fun for me.

I don't get it either and it's why I think recruiting discussion is some of the dumbest stuff ever.

It is.

The worst are the ones that can't look at a players decision outside of their own homerism. They want to criticize that the players are leading schools on just for the hell of it when that decision is one of the biggest they will make in their lives.

...it's also one of the few times in which they are in a position of control.

I'd say cheap liquor and losing seasons back to back....

Not quite epic enough... the post started with some promise, but fell flat.

A little more passion, condescension and a personal attack sprinkled in here or there, and you could be an epic poster...

The same one driving your impulses when you were in the Sandusky thread, I presume.

I try pretty hard not to be petty IRL. I enjoy being petty about college sports. It's part of the fun for me. You'll never see me take shots at guys like Tee, though.

Yet, to hear some of them, Jones hasn't recruited right out of the gate like Kiffin so he's already a failure. Someone tell them what happened with all those great recruits that Kiffin left us with.

Here you go OP, proof straight out of the briar patch. But I think he's leading you on. Not a "REAL" East Tennessean though, too many words containing more that 4 letters.

I originally typed a much longer answer to this, but I think it can be summed up much quicker. They are just dumb rednecks.

You forgot one attribute of the Legions of the Miserable: Nobody can hold a grudge like them. No matter how much time has passed, it does not seem to dull the intensity of their wrath.
