What an unbelievable way to give away a ball game. I know that I'm late getting on today and all these things may have been discussed ad nauseum,but maybe there are some of you that can shed light on some questions I have. With a three point lead,why do you let the opponent drive the length of the floor for a layup with only token resistance,especially when the first time you have a foul to give,then compound it by doing so again? Why,late in the game with a one point lead and the ball,when everybody in the game knew a foul was coming,were not the best free throw shooters in the game? Why with three and one half or so seconds left,do you contest a rebound that LSU clearly had eighty feet from the basket? Now,as an afterthought,I and many of you have seen this type play time after time with nothing called. Don't know who the official was,but she has had Diamond Deshields in her crosshairs every time she officiates Lady Vol games. This is several times that she has let DD get mugged consistently and calls foul on her for getting too close to an opponent. For you Diamond detractors,she played well today and pulled the LVs out of the hole in the second half. After these answers,of course,it's still turnovers,lay ups,free throws and coaching miscues that have made this the worst Lady Vol team ever. Been watching over forty years,and have never seen a Lady Vol team and coaches be so lost on the floor.

Nothing to do with the officials at all in this one. Or any of them really. Why would the refs be out to get a mediocre team that's languishing in the bottom of the conference standings?

On that last play, Andraya should never have put the refs in the position to blow the whistle. That's on her and on Holly for not reminding the team not to foul.

JMHO but CHW should know that with a 1 point lead and free throws coming you NEVER have players lined up along the lane..Everyone but Russell should have been back in LSU's half court..But hey, she's the coach..Any criticism brings the label of "troll"......

They are talented. THEY ARE NOT COACHED!!!

Now, regarding the officiating--the officials in women's college basketball are the most incompetent officials in any sport. They are a laughingstock.

When you show lack of knowledge might be why they label some a troll.

Actually, there are enough adjectives.
But most of them start with four letters.

The foul by Carter makes no sense...The girl had clearly rebounded the ball and Carter just grabs her....A total mental break down....LSU would have been hard pressed to get off any type of decent shot with 4 seconds left....

I think that Carter thought that we had a foul to give, but don't know. I do know that this program has 7 high school all-Americans, played what may be the worst team in the SEC with as many as 4 walk on players, and still lost. Holly must be fired. She has destroyed this program in just 3 short years. Also, NO commitments for next year. Pretty sad.

I AGREE WITH THE POST. The Basketball IQ was shown immediately on Carters face after she fouled her? A shame that Holly or Carter did not have any Basketball IQ before the foul shots?

Everyone in the gym knew that Mercedes was 57% sure to miss/make the shot! Even the commentators wondered why she was in the game!

In other sports like (Baseball) you are taught to think WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE BALL COMES TO ME!!! The players should have been coached and reminded! WHAT DO I DO WHEN MERCEDES MISSES THE SHOT??

Mental Midgets!:thud::thud::thud::thud:

Even with the missed foul shots how do you let a player drive the court for a layup in like 8 seconds. There were a lot of defensive breakdowns to go along with the missed free throws. Holly having Mercedes in the game was a dismal decision when you know they are going to foul the worst free throw shooter and she was at 57 percent.
The game was really lost in the first half when Holly decided to start her worst offensive lineup and they scored 18 points in a half of play. The fact that Diamond made some plays and got us back in the game is something I don't think Holy was counting on but desperation had set in because of the huge LSU lead.
The coaching mistakes from the starting lineup until the final buzzer were numerous. A decent coach could make this team 10 to 15 points better and that would mean right now we would have about three total losses on the season.
