there does not seem to be the enthusiasm on this 2015 class we expereniced on the 2014 class. Are there not any of the 2015 guys recruiteing other players.Do we not have a TKJ,Vic Warthon in this class all over the other recuites?
We don't even have any "Who's next to commit" threads.I know this is only May,but last year at this time there was a whole lot of things going on that we don't have this year.:banghead2:

We have over half our class already filled.

It's May 11th.

We can't take 32 this year.

The shock of signing good football players and having a competent staff has subsided in many fans.

It's ok to enjoy it.

Go Vols.

Happy Mother's Day! Don't worry we'll end up with another top 10 class this year. This staff works their tails off and not every class will fall together the same way as last years.

You are getting torched because we are in May and we are in on some of the best talent in the country. There's no reason to worry at this point. Plus, CBJ has proven he knows how to recruit. There's simply no reason to even get excited at this point. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Butcher and Jack Jones tweet to a lot of guys. I don't think anybody can do what last years guys did, but they still are in some guys ears. I also get the feeling that a lot of guys we are in on are going to take their visits, thus are not too close to committing. With all that being said, who you guys think will be "next to commit"?

Also, there aren't as many legacies in this class. 1996 was a slow year for VFLs in the bedroom. I'm guessing 2016-17 will be big legacy classes with the National championship in 1998. I can't be the only VFL that closed the deal that night. :)

Lol. This is ridiculous. We will sign a top 10 class more than likely. We been 5-7 every yr for a while now. What exactly do you want? We just had a 5 star WR say he's shutting it down and he's all Vol. Cam Ordway just said he group chats with a bunch of UT targets and they all really like UT. A 5 star DL named us a leader. A borderline 5 star DT legacy is favoring UT. You should prob relax. A 4 and 5 star QB are favoring UT. There's alot of good things going on but you're just choosing to be negative.

Last year was the first really great recruiting year in a long time so that probably has something to do with it. It's like the Braves almost winning it all in 1991 after being in last place for so many years. Once that happens, you start to get used to being in the upper echelon and 2nd place no longer cuts it.

Also, last year we had our big targets (Hurd & Kelly) commit really early (Feb./March?) and they got the ball rolling with recruiting others. This year's big targets (e.g., Gibson, Settle, McKenzie, etc.) are deciding during or after the season. Gentry is supposed to commit in the next few weeks so that should help get the ball rolling a bit again.

Bottom line: we're good!:hi:

There's a lot to feel good about. Without the legacy kids from last year, most recruits will want to see progress on the field this year. Plus, we are in on a lot of high 4* and some 5* guys who will take their due diligence with visits etc. I see a 7-10 type of class. (Just a guess obviously)

Fellows,I'm not being neg. or anything else. All I have said is that there doesn't seem to be the rah-rah about recuiteing this year that we had last year.

We don't have the "who's next to commit" threads because we won't have the same volume of commitments. However, Jones and staff will be focusing on more elite recruits in 2015.

If anything, the past week has shown that Jones is the real deal, and that 2014 wasn't a fluke:

Preston Williams, 5-star WR, shut down his recruiting, and is firm to the Vols.

Torrance Gibson, 5-star QB, says UT is #1 on his list.

Tim Settle, 5-star DT, says UT is #1 on his list.

Kahlil McKenzie, high 4-star DT (and legacy), has been hinting that UT is in the driver seat for some time.

So basically, this year will be fewer recruits, but more elites (which is saying a lot, because had some elite players in 2014). Not as much boomage, but louder boomage.

Travis Henry has us covered on that. 9 legacies

Last year it was all at once like this:

This year, it's more spread out, but bigger and better like this:

Our fans are still killing it on Twitter for the 15 recruits, and I think most of the excitement last year was from us not recruiting like that since Fulmer. I think its quieter around here not because we're recruiting worse, but because we're no longer shocked at the excellent work being done on the recruiting trail. It's nothing out of the ordinary for this staff.

The 15 class might be even better than 14. I have no idea why one would be pessimistic.

This time last year we had about 10 public commitments so given that we can't sign as many this year it seems like we are actually ahead of last years pace.

There's plenty of excitement on twitter.

However, the recruiting forum is far more jaded to recruitment since it IS a recruiting forum. Last year was Jones first real class and there was a lot of excitement because we didn't know how we'd do. A lot of people, Vol fans and rival fans alike, were convinced the class being assembled would never hold. Now there are expectations (high ones at that) and people are getting choosy because the class is smaller. We're also so far out that people are nervous because it's a long time between now and signing day. People will get excited the closer to fall we get.
