Mild tribute to Corso. I thought our fan base and press was way ahead of themselves this summer with the loss of so many power players, a Milton who had only played a couple of decent games and no proof our DBs will improve, but the hype that Colorado and Deon is getting after just three games is perhaps unprecedented. Has anyone else taken note? Are they already back? I just hate what’s coming if the wheels fall off for him after all the hype. He attributes his success thus far to a higher power, so let’s see. Godspeed as they say.

It really doesn’t matter what Heup does this season, his job is secure. However, if they dont turn it around and start playing with effort and discipline, his seat will get warm. There will 100% be conversations about the future, specifically demands for him to figure things out quickly before they go in the complete wrong direction.

Also lets see how everything plays out with Deion. He has won 3 games against some not good teams and is about to get into the meat of the schedule.

I forgot has has 3 under his belt. I’m still in the boat of see how it goes. I think Heupel knows more than most. He has the right guys in place with his recruiting. If they start dropping off, then I will be concerned.

Yeah he needs to right the ship, keep the class together, and win 5-6 more games. If he does that, the future is bright.

I do think he needs to bring in as many DL and OL as he can from the portal and really build a SEC caliber line.

As with any head coach, can he attract quality assistant coaches and recruiters? I question our DC and DB coaches but Garner was a home run hire. Imo, the asst coaching carousel at Bama has impacted Saban, It has to be difficult to replace quality coordinators every two years.

Yep......just ask Fulmer. The Clawfense killed him......he never recovered after losing Cutcliffe.

The thing I like about Deion is that, he is making the players earn everything they get, he does not seem to be buckling to today's kids mindset. He is giving them a dose of old school football, I'm the coach, you the player if you will.

I am not a big fan of talking a lot of smack. I prefer respect and humility, and being dominant on the field.
This is why its hard for me to get behind what Deion is doing. I definitely like his old school approach, but all the talking gets really old (cough cough Kamal)

Colorado went from being a good story to a great story.
So far, they have beaten an average team and two bad teams (I consider TCU average).
They are over-ranked and over-hyped.
They should go down this weekend at Oregon. It will look good if they can make it a game.

But the biggest things Sanders has accomplished are being talked about (thus this thread) and the even bigger effect that suddenly tickets to Colorado games are the most expensive in the Nation.
Rising ticket prices is why they hired him, and he did it.

The Buffs are selling tickets and the outlook for next season's tickets will be a seller's market for the program. They can name their prices and they will sell out quickly. Sanders is having an incredible economic impact for a program whose stadium was empty just 10 months ago.
To me, that is the BIG story about Sanders' tenure.

Not saying I am a huge fan, but the dude hasn't talked smack about ANY opponent they have had. His focus is on his kids and his program. If anything, it's his opposition that has been talking smack.

Colorado has more holes than us but they also play with energy and enthusiasm and self confidence.

Oh yeah...they also have a real QB actually who has some dawg in him.

Milton is a little baby kitten in a lion's body. He would literally rather run out of bounds then take a hit to get a first down. That kind of scared mindset is like a cancer to your entire team.

I doubt you can build an SEC caliber line from the portal. Maybe a good second string line.

I definitely think there is a potential for highly recruited players to transfer out of programs that have a ton of depth. Bama, Georgia, Clemson, Texas, OSU, etc should have a player or two from several position groups currently buried on the depth chart looking for PT.

Inevitably, there will also be developmental guys who blossomed at a smaller school and ready to move up to the big leagues, someone like Norman-Lott.

It's not impossible and way too many factors to say 100% yay or nay. Either way, you look as hard as you can until you find someone or don't.

Why does Garner get a pass? His D line looked good against inferior talent, but got abused against UG in the run game and couldn’t contain the QB on the rush to save their lives.

I’m not saying we need to make changes anywhere, but be consistent if we are going to question our coaches. Garner’s group has struggled too.

Agreed. We have big uglies coming though. Those who bothered to research Heupel a bit after we hired him were not concerned with scheme...but recruiting. He has done a stellar job of recruiting and its just now starting to show with our Dline, young LBs, etc. We had an underrated class at 10th or 11th last year and our current no6 ranked class is hands down the best class at UT in 20 years. We have 17 players so far ranked 4* or higher out of 20 or 21 recruits. The future at UT is very, very bright as long as CJH keeps landing these top10 classes. He has already shown last season that he can orchestrate the no1 offense in both points and yards per game with LESSER talent than our rivals. Wait til our talent is equal or better than them...especially since elite QBs and WR drool about playing in our offense.

Go VOLS. WGWTFA

From what I read, the LBs were the ones missing assignments.

Completely different situations imo. Colorado won 1 game last year. If Deion gets to a bowl game (which I’m sure he will) then that’s a major win. We won 11 games last year, much bigger expectations. I’ll agree that many of us were unrealistic having lost so much talent though.
