Nothing has really changed, IMO

Yeah, I remember the hopeful speculation that we might be ranked if this or that were to happen. But yeah, I also google searched through the last month and couldn't find anyone claiming we were a top 25 team. But yet fade route claims to have seen alot of them. Weird.

Umm....I didn't say anyone posted that we were a top 25 team...did I? Maybe you and sjt18 should compare notes and get your crap together.

SIX TOP TWENTY TEAMS in seven games don't help any. We are low on depth and SLOW. Those expecting overnight success are just crazy. It takes time to rebuild. And all the coaching changes and people leaving/getting tossed out of the program don't help one bit either. How many of Kiffin's recruits are here helping out? And all of those great Dooley recruits that he really coached up too.

Well, I just assumed that there would be posts, because you said so many people were convinced we were a top 25 team. I guess all those people were convinced, put never thought to post about it, huh? That's weird. But I'm sure there is a record of it somewhere, right? It's not like you would just make it up.

We should not concern ourselves with loses, after all it is just a game. We should make sure the players have enough to eat and that they are tucked in at night. We should have focus groups to interview the players to make sure the facilities are good enough and that the coaches say things to the players that are pleasing to hear. The players should not be tied to performance goals or have any accountability. Our players should be considered as the practice squad for the SEC and be happy about any losses they incur. Geez......we don't expect this team to win! What is wrong with us???? Just showing up is good enough....right?

I dont think anyone is saying that. I think you have to face reality though. We are a team who is not used to winning or even competing in games where the talent level is remotely higher. Right now we play decent at home. We are flat out terrible on the road though. If we can make a bowl game I find that as a win for Butch this year.

When you read the complete meltdown from the Saturday night threads, its pretty clear alot of people thought we were top 25 material heading into that game IMO.

I guess you missed the joke.......figures.

He tends to miss a lot of things. Jokes being only one of many categories. He acted like I was insane for saying I think Mizzou has more talent than we do (though not by much). He also acted like I was insane for saying Mizzou has two capable QB's. I didn't say Mauk was a world-beater, didn't say he was a Heisman candidate, I said he was capable. He took issue with that. My advice to you would be to put him on your ignore list. That's what I did; it's nice to not have to see his know-it-all, derogatory "I'm right, you're wrong" posts every day.

Oh yeah, he also listed how many stars the starters for each team had, on both sides of the ball. His very next sentence was "I am NOT a star gazer."

Edit: Here's my entire post that he took issue with. I'd say it was pretty accurate, but of course I'm biased.

(In my first sentence, I was disagreeing with his opinion that UT has more talent than Mizzou.)

"Personally, I disagree. I think Mizzou has a ton of talent, more so than UT at this point (though not by much). Their top 4 receivers are all 6'4" or taller, and very athletic (I believe one was the #1 WR in his class), and we all know they have two QB's who are very capable, to say the least. Regarding the experience comment, that's true, but you have to remember that even though we're 8 games into the season, our QB only has 2 quarters of experience. I have confidence in Dobbs, but don't be surprised if he makes some rookie mistakes. He's going to be facing a pretty nasty pass rush from Mizzou. The O-line and receivers need to step up and make sure they're on their A-game with blitz pick ups and hot routes."

And I was wrong about the top-4 receivers' height. It was the top-3.

Contrary to what most people do, I don't have a single poster on ignore. I like to read all opinions no matter how baseless or just plain wrong they may be. Just my philosophy.

I feel you on that. I also like to see others' opinions and discuss the topics; my issue is when they present it in a douchey/derogatory manner. That I can't stand. When I was disagreeing with him, I tried doing so in a mature, non-hostile way, but he responded as if I had attacked him personally.

So, any fan who didn't enjoy watching our team get blown out by Missouri must have assumed we were a top 25 team? Yeah, excellent logic you're using there. Can you name me all the other major programs with fanbases who would be happy after a 31-3 loss to Missouri?

It's not asking to much of a team to give 100% every game , every play , no matter what the circumstances are.
When your opponent has more talent you must play harder and match their intensity, saw that in the ga and sc games not so in the oregon, ala, and mizzou games. Win or lose your opponent should leave the field with the feeling they have been in one hell of a ball game. :twocents:

Yeah, the most disappointing thing about that game, for me, was the fact that it looked like they just quit, especially after the drop by Josh Smith. Mizzou is better than us, but not 28 points better. It was painful to watch.

You're exaggerating my position, and sjt18 said that's being a one trick pony. Again, you and sjt18 get together and try to come up with something better. Nice effort, though.

Fanbase abandoned all reality after the UGA and USCjr games. Too many people used those 2 games to convince themselves we were really a top 25 team, which is ridiculous.

I didn't! I knew better! I still say we should have won the GA game and still dissapointed we didn't and I also say Spurrier had an off or really bad game calling plays.

Haha. I guess I should have known better than to ask you for any actual evidence of your claim that "many people convinced themselves we were really a top 25 team." Keep fighting the good fight against all the stuff you pretend people said.

Well there was a thread titled something like, "Where would we be ranked?" leading up to the Bama game. There were a lot of experts on here that put Bama on upset alert.
