Just think about where Tennessee basketball is now. It's wild to think of where we are. Now the standard is not just hoping to make the tourney, but expected compete at a high level.

No, the result isn't what everyone wanted, but what the seniors and Barnes have accomplished is nothing short of special.

Side note, I would love to see ZZ to eventually try out coaching. The grit, attitude, and toughness resonates with people here.

Rocky top will forever be home sweet home.

Watched the post game interview. It drives me crazy when coaches won't just come out and say what the problem was:

1. Our inside game is weak, weak, weak--compared to other playoff teams
2. Other teams have dependable three point shooters---ours are hot and cold. Very cold today.

Not a lot of teams can say they're Elite Eight teams two years in a row. Love and congrats guys!

Happy and satisfied where we ended up this season, but just wish we wouldn't have got ran over by Houston /it was more competitive game today being it was on a very high stage like that and a lot of eyes were watching.

Excited to see what kind of team Barnes can put together this next "rebuild year".

It takes away from their previous accomplishments in this same tourney, which were huge. The game was over at the 10-minute mark after going 0-14 from the field and not getting blown out required only making 3 or 4 of those shots. The swing in these last 2 games is mind boggling.

Would you say that Bama lacks dependable shooters, as well?

I also wonder if the effect of playing in a huge stadium is more pronounced on teams that try to shoot a lot of 3s. I would think it would be a factor.

We ended up having a better season than I expected. Earlier in the year I would of thought we’d be lucky to make it to the Sweet 16 with our offense.

We didn’t have a guy like Knecht but still got revenge on Cats and made it this far. Also managed to beat the Bammers which is always nice!

Rick Barnes is what he is. The man is a good head coach but his teams tend to come up short in games like this. He’s like the basketball version of James Franklin or Mark Richt- Quite good overall but loses a lot of the biggest games.

I don’t want him to retire or to be fired (not happening) because we are still quite good. Making Elite Eights is a big deal, I’m just saying you kind of know what you’ll get from RB.

Deep down, I figured we would lose today, I am just disappointed that we got whipped like that.

After a heartbreaking loss, while sitting at the table next to guy guys that poured out everything they had for the program… you wanted Barnes to dump on his players? Say they weren’t good enough?

Good grief.

With ZZ, Mashack, Gainey, Lanier, Igor, Dubar, and probably Felix leaving, not sure what Barnes will do...I have a feeling what is about to happen, but I have no insider info to back it up. What I hope happens is Barnes stays and we will see what he can do with a COMPLETE program rebuild.

You must have missed his interview the other day when he stated he was coming back next year

Why would Felix leave?

Absolutely nothing to hang your head about. We ended up being one the final 8 teams still playing yesterday. Winning the NCAA is hard. You have to play great for 6 straight games and no off nights. Agee we lose a lot more talent off this team than last yrs and going to be tougher to replace but lets see who Barnes gets. We have no choice but to wait and see.

We will have 3 good bigs for next season, Estrella, Phillips and Felix. Good start to build on.

We also beat every other SEC team this season, to add to the accomplishments. As of now, Florida is the only other team that has done that.
edit: nvm, I forgot about Ole Miss.

Wonder if we could get Bruce Pearl when the time comes
He's about as old as Barnes and to be honest him and the ladies coach from Texas VIC, both look like they have high blood pressure IMO. They both have faces that look like they've been in the sun all day and turned red as a beet and its winter/Spring.
I think BP will never coach at UT again period and I'd put money on that.

Am still on the fence as to whether Coach Barnes can get us to the Final 4 and or a natty, but cannot put all the blame on him for our play vs Houston. The Cougars did to us what we did to Kentucky, and that is playing a smothering defense. Few of or 3 point attempts were not contested as Houston just didn't give our shooters any breathing room. Not even sure that w Estrella that we would have fared better. Great season Vols - proud of the effort the team showed on the floor all season. Hoping/praying that the portal is our friend in the offseason. GBO!!
