NOTICE: Animated Avatars

Due to the sizes of some of the animated avatars getting a tad out of hand, we've decided to institute a policy on them.

As many of you know it takes a mod to add an animated avatar to your profile. We will continue to do this, but will be limiting the usage to files 700kb or smaller, and only users with more than 500 posts.

This should help with slowdown issues some posters have been experiencing recently.

Also, if you are one of those that are having speed problems, note that you can turn avatars off by going to the User CP, selecting Edit Options, and there is a check box for "Show avatars" under "Thread Display Options".

Sorry if this inconveniences anyone. The mods all want VN to run as smoothly as possible for ALL of our users. Thanks!

i wish you would just get rid of them altogether.

and yes, i know i can block them, but i use people avatars or sigs to ID the poster as i'm scrolling though a thread.

I even saved it as an Optimized Gif to try to shrink the size.
