Why would Notre Dame turn down any bowl invitations?
They still have players on the team that love and want to play as many games as they can!

They still have seniors that could have one game left!

I just dont understand the reason in this unless it is to avoid a losing season.?.?

Sorry if this as been poste, I searched this forum but I got nothing

Presumably because they care more about their misguided, outdated sense of superiority than they do their seniors. Unless, of course, the seniors voted not to go to a crummy bowl game because they were afraid of going out with another losing season. In which case those guys are just losers.

Since their former head coach was also the offensive coordinator, they don't have anyone who has called plays on staff, anyway. This on top of the whole superiority thing.

Its unfair to the players, and fans... Not to mention the money they are forfeiting that could help pay Weis' buy out.

the money reason is about the only excuse i can buy. Notre Dame stands to gain nothing financially by playing in a bowl game.

however, the opportunity at a chance to redeem themselves should outweigh any monetary gains.

this is such a stupid move IMO. i hope their next coaching hire blows up in their face because it sounds like they definitely deserve it. any bowl is better than none.

I thought the players voted to skip the bowl....

if that's part of the reason for it happening then that makes it even worse. that really sends a message that most of the program is made up of a bunch of losers.....regardless of any justification from the AD.

It's amazing that players -- especially seniors -- would vote not to play in a bowl game. Think about it. You're a senior; you're almost certainly not going to sniff the NFL. You've been playing football your whole life, and a bowl game would be the last chance you'll ever have to play football again, ever. And you'd vote not to do it, to just walk away with that loss at Stanford being the last time you ever put on the pads? What?

I know it wouldn't be an exciting game or opponent, but come on. When you sign up to play football at Notre Dame, you're signing up to play five games a year against service academies, Syracuse, Stanford, boring Big 10 teams, etc. Whoever they would have played in the Little Caesars Bowl would have been a better opponent than half the teams on a typical Notre Dame schedule.

Losers.

Please expain this. Every team no matter how crappy of a bowl, makes millions in revenue.

I went to check out their websites earlier today they had a poll. Simply vote to go to a bowl or not. Thousands had voted and it was 51 - 49 percent not to go.

Not really. The school still has to fund the travel and accomodations of the team And staff from the funds provided. The net payouts of many bowls just aren't very big. At a joint like ND, that payout is negligible.

Ok but the NCAA benefits from having Notre Dame in a bowl, the fan base provides a ratings boost, therefore it seems to me like ND is thumbing their nose at the NCAA for suggesting they should go to mediocre bowl game. ND is being disrespectful to not only the NCAA but also to the team they may have faced. It's disrespectful to the seniors who would like to play their last game.

I've never been an ND fan, and now I most certainly have them on my Most Hated List.

Especially if Meyer is lying his butt off and goes there!
