I knew there had to be a legitimate reason for his horrible starts and finishes average this year.

Average start - 22.3 ( one top ten start )

Average finish - 22.9 ( four top ten finishes )

Hold on a minute. You might want to check your numbers again. According to the anti-Jr. website, he "almost always" starts in the top 10.
