Not a bashing thread. However, I saw many complaints about the playcalling being predictable and basic.

Look what happens when the offense is clicking? They can actually run the whole offense!

Yeah early on it didn't look too pretty, but it was a heck of a game and I like the playcalling. A bye week and then a not-as-good SC team rolls into town... looking positive.

Yes I was one who said this game wouldn't be close.

So the game plan was to go into the half 17-3, right?

I'm glad to see the effort we put in... just imagine if we had two second halves rather than the continued disaster the first half has been most of the year.

I like Jones and want to see him succeed here, but you can't defend the first half play and playcalling. Awful.

Most of our best gains came with the QB under center. I'd rather see a lot more of that and maybe win some games

No, the read option is still dumb when your QB doesn't keep the ball. Aside from that, the coaches made very good adjustments at halftime and the team showed a lot of heart against a very talented UGA team.

I hear ya.

When the execution of the play calling occurs...the gameplay can then be applied as it's drawn up. Players must be intense for that to happen...and today, they were.

As we get farther into the season, the coaching staff can call plays that they couldn't earlier because the players weren't ready. They are growing up and I still say they will pull an upset yet. They grew up a lot today.

Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of.

You'd rather bash the coaches for a 17-3 deficit 1st half deficit than credit them for orchestrating what was one of (well, almost) the greatest comebacks in Neyland history?

I hate people like you.

Great game all around for the team.... They gave their all for tennessee today and made me proud to be a vol fan.... Wish it was a wo and wish it was a game of "ifs" but it's not and we lost... But a lot of improvement was seen today and I think the recruits that were there would want to be a part of this program and were impressed with a rockin neyland stadium and fans!!!! Good job today boys a CBJ!!!!!

Little testy are we?

I said I LIKED the effort, so crawl back into your own hole.

Read option right now is just read handoff. And every opponent knows it. Why we continue to run it that way is beyond understanding. It is also one of the reasons we didn't score a touchdown in the first half.

Imagine if we had.

Was the second half great?

Absolutely.

Imagine if the first half had been great, too. That's all I'm saying.

I agree. There was a few times Worley had wide open lanes to run for looks like big yardage. But this team is improving. Something we haven't seen in awhile. Butch Jones will get us back to where we belong.

Funny, they average 5 yards a carry and you're bashing the run playcalling. Also, they made adjustments and it worked. It's freaking Georgia they just beat LSU and SCjr how well did you want them to play???

A part of playcalling is knowing the pulse of your offense, too. We came out very tentative, therefore, the playcalling had to be conservative to build some confidence and rhythm.

Also, once Worley kept it, it helped our running game, as the slightest threat of a QB keeper can buy your RB and OL a few more precious seconds.

The key to our offense developing is Worley keeping it on occasion. We'll look like a totally different team if this happens.

The thing I am most impressed by is that a year ago down 17-3 this team would have chalked up a loss and the final would have been 43-10 or something. Amazing how a little positive reenforcement works from a good coach.

I do like how Jones didn't have the losers mentality today! He knows winning and was going to do what it took to compete. I don't like a lot of his play calling but in the second half it was like the coaching staff got it.

You and the ones complaining do not have a clue about play calling but it is good for a laugh.

Going into this game, we were 5th in the country in 1st quarter scoring margin. The first half has not been a disaster all year long. As a matter of fact, USA almost came back and beat us in the second half.

...and against the teams that mattered?

28-7
17-7
17-3

Total: 62-17

You guys can call me an idiot all you want but the facts stand. I'm glad we didn't quit. I'm glad we had a great 2nd half. But our first halves against teams that have mattered... the scores above tell the story.

At least we're making adjustments though. Dooley's staff never did.

We put up 3 TDs against a UGA who has one of the worst defenses in the country. Right now, special teams is keeping us in the games. Playcalling didn't improve, the execution was just better.

Their defense is as good or better than anyone else on the schedule except Bama.
