Now the burden of the OC position has been lifted we can now start focusing on recruiting. Hopefully this lapse won't affect us in the negative and will really help in the positive.

No we got to worry about the other two positions before we start worrying about recruiting

I think that will be decided shortly. My guess would be Cut has already contacted who he wants. They just have to wait to make it look like Fulmer looked elsewhere before hiring Cut.

I would seriously like to see UT recruit some of the players in Gwinnett County, GA. Year afer year schools in this county go to the state championship games in high school. Year after year these guys go everywhere else but UT. I'm glad to see some looks at Justin Roper a QB from Buford.

I love to see my local guys play at UT! I'm in Cobb county. Yes im very familiar with AJ Suggs. He lived down the road and went to high school just down the road. I just want to see UT get the best players possible no matter where they come from. bye the way we all knew AJ would bomb.

I saw his title game at the Dome. I thought he was a great HS player....at least what I saw.

I just see Georgia as a gold mine that everyone just writes off as UGA country. Metro Atlanta is mostly people from other areas of the country so the loyalty to UGA isn't always guaranteed.

Sounding alot like Kippy Brown at WR. They mentioned it today before the press conf, he (KB) was CDC front runner for the gig.

Suggs was a great High school Qb just not much of a big time college QB. He would have been better off going to somewhere like Georgia Southern. Alot of people forget that georgia southern is a powerhouse divisionII team and has on more than one occasion given UGA a run for their money.

Doubt Suggs would have had a prayer trying to run the triple option.

Now those games were classic games back in the day. UGA needs to line them up. I know they won't because of what it does to schedules for BCS but those were some good football games.

i agree we gotta get on the road in recruiting! I think a very important spot is the juco LB Larry Grant. Florida and us are the two top spots. He will be a huge addition if we can land him. Another thing is the two quarterbacks we are interested in. Isiah Williams commited to Illinois and Demitrius Jones commited to Notre Dame are both soft verbal commitments who have been rumored to be interested still in us. We really need to land one of then as well as grant and possibly another top notch LB from juco or somewhere.

On that note does anyone recommend ANY of the recruiting rags out there?

There is grumblings coming out of Arkansas that their prized QB has set up a visit with the Vols for early December. Mitch Mustain is rated #1 in the nation if Im not mistaken. He had earlier said he would not be making any trips. Seems Cut may have a few recruits attention. We shall see. :clapping:

I figured he'd make a lot of people at least rethink some decisions. Anyone who follows college football who is looking for a scholarship knows Cut's history and all these kids looking st the pro's or to make a name for themselves would like no one better than Cut to be their mentor. Now we're looking at people possibly lining the door and we can pick and choose who we want.

It would be nice if we stole someone and a good QB, especially out from under Spurrier or Richt. No offense to the lizard and pup fans on this board.

Cut will draw the best QB's, and the best offensive players like to follow the best QB's so it could be interesting this year. There could be a coup shaping up somewhere.

There is a RB I saw at McMinn Co High this year I think his name is McDermott. He was real impressive. I don't think he gets much pub because of the school he is at. He is also a heck of a LB and reminds me alot of Westmoreland.

While recruiting is important the coaching staff is key. You can have great personnel but without the proper coaching it doesn’t translate to squat (see 2005).

Frank Beamer built VT into a powerhouse without the luxury of “Top 10 recruits”. That said, the Vols will do well as they always do in recruiting IMHO.

I think Cut will have a positive affect on recruiting, and by positive i guess i mean that i don't think we'll drop any recruits or lose any potential ones based on this coaching change. I think Cut has a lot of credibility going in to a kids house when you start talking about H. Shuler, P. and E. Manning etc...he also recruited L. Little, S. BUrton apparently...also on current NFL rosters (burton, maybe not, but was with the Panthers last year...) anyway....

There won't be any huge overhaul system wise, so that will be good for the potential guys from a stability standpoint, and yeah, while the quesitons are still there, if you can really get a kippy brown, well that takes care of itself...

I say hit the road, start selling the "ship is righted" and we have lots of "opportunity" for youngsters to contribute right away!!

We'll be allright from this standpoint...i'll be shocked if we don't get a top 20 class this year....

Ok..... just to get some things off my chest. I have read a lot of negativity coming from this board over the course of this season. While this season has not been pleasant, I feel that we as Vol Nation need to take a collective deep breath. Cutcliffe is a fine coach and is going to recruit an Blue Chip QB is the south. He will attract above average assistants, the defense will be fired up Play hard for Chavis, Aine will develop under Cut, we get some big WR who are tough...and all is well next year. I feel that Cut is going to help out immensely in recruiting....

We'll See.

For the record I believe that Tennessee is moving in the right direction, the Vols will acquire very good talent as they always do. Put that together with a coaching staff that develops a “walk through walls” mentality in its players and you will win a lot of games. Especially the close games needed to win Championships.
