Now that we've seen Dobbs...

I suspect CBJ was thinking to himself..."Dammit, I should have given this kid a chance to prove himself before this. We can win with this guy."

He opens up the playbook for Bajakian, so I have to believe it will be tough to go back to Worley, healthy or not. Even when the passes weren't completed, Dobbs throws were pretty accurate, overall.

That's what I thought was the silver lining in this loss.....that we finally got a glimpse of the future, and it started today

I'm a Worley supporter. Got a lot of respect for the guy. I see too often where he makes a good throws and the receiver flat out drops the ball or doesn't make a serious effort to fight for the catch the ball in a few cases.

On seeing Dobbs at work, I have to swallow hard and admit he just looked better. His passes had more velocity. He threw in a manner that made it look as if the ball was hunting the receiver. In other words not over throwing his man. He runs. I dare say if he had started the game would have been more competitive.

Understand now, I didn't want Dobbs starting or even relieving Worley. I felt all along you Worley haters were being unfair, armchair dummies whining over arrogant and unproven assumptions. I still think that on a lot of stuff. But I got to say we should let Dobbs play. Against a hellish team, he showed poise. A lack of fear to run the ball, and arm that's a serious piece of artillery. It sucks that JW hurt his thumb, sucks big time. I think he's a better QB than many give him credit for. If only his receivers could hang onto the ball. But Dobbs certainly looked like our best QB option out there. I'm absolutely on the Dobbs bandwagon after what I saw. Not to the point of second guessing CBJ because that presumes I know better than he does. Which would be bull*&^$ because he sees his players daily and I only on game days.

CBJ will have a decision to make. Based on how he has handled things to this point, I'm going to predict that unless Worley can't grip the football to throw it, he will start Worley against Mizzou.

The majority of the Vol Nation will most likely strongly disagree with this since they actually saw a QB playing in CBJ's offense that actually looked good doing it.

Going to be an interesting week coming up.

I see what your saying based on what we know about CBJ. But you just burned a redshirt to put him back on the bench when he looked the part would ruffle some feathers. Did anyone else notice how excited the team was about Dobbs coming in? I think the team respects Worley but I think the like Dobbs talent more. What kind of message does that send to pat Dobbs on the back and telling him to go sit down

I understand bUTch trying to keep both our freshmen QB's redshirted so they both would have 4 more years at UT and that option also played into the recruiting plans of not being forced to go get another QB in the next incoming class.

bUTch simply had no other option today after JW simply couldn't handle the ball or put any juice behind his passes so he was forced to change his plans around on several things when he was forced to put Dobbs into the game and burn his redshirt despite how badly he hated having to do that.

For a true freshman with zero real game experience and having to go against the number 1 team in America he did pretty well in my opinion.

He's still very inexperienced and raw and none of us have any idea how much of the playbook he really knows well at this point.

JW did well with protecting the ball until he was injured and we did beat USCe and should have beaten UGa and alot of that is his hard work and the experience of real games he has under his belt.

The redshirt is now gone and most all of us are really fired up about what Dobbs did when thrown into the fire and if JW still can't throw well by next week then Dobbs must start.

USCe made a miracle comeback to beat Mizzou so we know we can beat them too if we play really well for 60 minutes and our guys will be ready to prove themselves again after the Bama beatdown that most of us didn't expect to see happen.

bUTch is in a really tough situation now but I believe he'll make the tough decisions based on what's best for our team because he simply hates Losing.

Dobbs is really raw but we all saw alot to like about the kid for a short time yesterday and more real game experience is what's going to help him the most now as long as he's good at protecting the ball too like JW has done the last few games before he was hurt.

The future is indeed much brighter with bUTch running our program.

It'll be a really tough road but I still think we can WIN 3 more games this season if things go right.

I commend and salute Justin Worley for leading UT-v-SC; more than likely beating his home state school will be his NCAA FB highlight.

That said, young Dobbs may end up starting every game remaining in '13, no matter Worley's injuries or recovery.

The contrast between Dobbs performance and the Peterman shipwreck speaks for itself.

There will be bad throws, there will be drops, there will be bad decisions between now and the end of the season, but I have no doubt Dobbs is THE answer on offense.

What about him? He isn't smart enough to learn the whole playbook. He is smaller and less athletic than Dobbs. Ferguson not the most patient probably looking to transfer already. Just my opinion.
You have no evidence for any of that. Ferguson was injured most of the week. He was the guy they had warming up when Worley's return was questionable agains USCe.

I'm excited about what Dobbs showed he can do yesterday, but the fact remains that if Ferguson had been 100%, he's probably the guy who burns his red shirt.

Fergie was hurt so he didn't play per CBJ. Where have you heard Ferguson isn't smart enough or hasn't learned the playbook?? CBJ said both freshmen were game ready several weeks ago. Who's your source? I think Dobbs may have overall better physical tools, but Ferguson will be good and it will be a dog fight for the starting position next year. Both will be ahead of Worley is my guess.

I would go with Dobbs from now on out.

I'm kind of in that camp too but remember, the defense schemed against Worley and not Dobbs. Once they understand QB tendencies, some of that luster can come off a great begining. Of course it gives Dobbs more time to get reps and hone the execution of more plays too.

CBJ has always said he's going to play the QB who gives us the best chance to win, and I trust him to make the call now. But, having seen Dobbs step into a really tough situation and perform as well as he did, I think you have to go with him until he proves you wrong. Not only did Dobbs look composed and capable, I thought there was a discernible difference in the body language of the other guys in the huddle - they looked more energized and like they believed he could get it done. (I admit I could be reading too much into that.) I like Worley - you can't question his heart, his effort and his toughness, but I think its Dobbs' turn now.

It would be dumb. Imo

Burn a guys redshirt that's better than your starter- you better use him.

I don't mind burning resshirts. You kind of get rid of the lower performers.

My guess is Dobbs just forced Peterman into a transfer so TN will be able to recruit a top knotch QB and not worry about having too many QBs on the roster.

I have friends on the training staff that have said since the Oregon game that the talent and athletic ability difference between Dobbs and the other Qbs was very staggering. Couldn't believe how he was being kept off the field. Ferguson supposedly struggles with play book and consistency very up and down. He has been compared to very "Crompton like". Ferguson won't like the fact he has now been passed and now behind on experience after this season. Look for a transfer I'm betting.

Radio broadcast said he had some sort of minor injury which limited him at practice this week.

But irregardless I think Dobbs is the guy. IMO

Not sure how you compare and make this statement since we haven't seen Riley take a snap? Dobbs over Worley any day but to make your blanket statement is uninformed.

So did your training staff friends forget to tell you Ferguson was wearing a boot last week from tweaking his ankle? Prior to this it would have been him going in. I think Dobbs and Ferguson are upgrades from the other two and I do see Peterman possibly transferring.

If that's what you get from a Freshman QB taking limited snaps or working only with the 2s and 3s all week...I imagine he'd really flourish working with the 1s all this week.

I say go all in with Dobbs.

Everything is hear say at this point, but the fact that ppl at practice are saying this about the talent gap I would put a little stock in it. At least we can agree on this Go CARDS!!!
I too have friends who work closely with the football team and have heard no such thing. When I do hear things from them I take it with a grain of salt.

And Will Middlebrooks totally tried to trip Allen Craig. GO CARDS!
