considered a rivalry. How far have we fallen? I remember the days when nothing short of a four touchdown win was expected. Now we are the underdogs(as we should be) and this game is a rivalry game? When will this crap end? :banghead2:

You could call it a rivalry now that we are experiencing our worst defense ever, and they are having one of their best seasons ever. But, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

Yes it is a rivalry. I hate Vandy and Vandy should hate me, because I trash them on a consistent basis. Going on 30 years of Vandy hating. I have only seen Vandy win twice. F blandy

in 4 years as QB Peyton Manning only beat Vandy by more than 1 TD one time. Acting like close games vs the little school to the west means anything is a bit ridiculous

Just because one team wins more consistently doesn't mean it's not a rivalry. Look at Florida, they still consider us rivals even though they have a winning record on our turf and are on the verge of a 10 year winning streak.

(Ouch that whole post hurt to say)

I'm with you Gramps... Chucky....Chucky......Chucky.

So tired of the Dooley ERA. Can't wait to be put out of our misery.

Chill out... The heat of rivalries is fluid.. As long as there are 2 SEC schools in this state, we could beat them by 3 TDs every year for 50 years and it would still be considered a rivalry.

For the most part, we're fortunate that this rivalry has been as lopsided as it has been. In reality, this is probably how it should be. I always thought Vandy could be a relatively respectable program if they had the right coach..

Yal shouldn't expect anything different.. They are hitting their ceiling as a program, and we are ebbing at our lowest low. It's fair to say our lowest low and their highest high puts us on about an equal playing field.

They heat has risen in this rivalry because of Franklin and nothing else. They were tight games in the past with Vandy but there was never any heat to the rivalry because they had zero fans. They at least have 100 or so fans now.

I'm afraid this crap will not end until Hart comes to life and gets an SEC-caliber coaching staff to replace Dooley and company. I still support the team, but I cannot support Dooley and company.

My only problem with Vandy being relatively successful is this state is already hard to lock down the talent we have here... A decent Vandy program makes it that much harder. It's better for us for them to be garbage.. Which I think they will go back to being if Frankin leaves. But for some reason I don't see that happening anytime soon.. Any kinda season he has, he's either exceeding expectations there, or meeting them. He seems like the kinda guy that would rather try to take a bottom feeder and make them good, instead of taking a big program and tryin to meet their fanbases lofty expectations.

They've always been a rival, we've just dominated. Kentucky is a still a rival too.

Not to mention the rivalry goes beyond football, both are bigger basketball rivals than football, and UT/Vandy is a pretty decent baseball rivalry.

Vandy being better actually helps the rivalry as well. People need to get a grip about some of this stuff.

One thing about Vandy is they don't have morons playing on their team. It takes a few smarts to graduate from Vanderbilt. Anyone with a pulse could graduate from UT.

We've been using this excuse for the last half-decade.

That's hurtful.

Yeah but very true. We have to be the dumbest box of rocks ever assembled on a field and called a defense. Our players exhibit absolutely no skills to tackle, cover, or remember their assignments. We are pitiful on D and deserve every negative post that comes up. We definately do not have brain surgeons on this D.

there's a difference between calling someone a dumb football player and calling them an idiot in the rest of their life. One of those should probably be avoided

According to some people on here I guess everybody we play is a rival.

Technically everyone in the SEC is a rival, or should be. A&M and Missouri obviously will take some time but in 10-15 years Mizzou definitely will be since we'll play them every year.

There are various levels of rivalry; Memphis is a rivalry that is heavily basketball but that doesn't mean they aren't in football.
