I know its a dumb question and you guys hate seeing these questions but someones got to ask. Is there only 2 opens for 2012? Woolridge and Tatum are the only ones leaving?

I think Tennessee also has one empty roster spot, which would mean three spots for 2012 (assuming no NCAA sanctions).

12 total right? Ok good. Other than Stokes is there any guess who the 2 others could be? Or too early to tell.

Teams are allowed 13 scholarships. With the five incoming players, I count 12 on Tennessee's roster.

NCAA Scholarship Limits

13 not 12.

11 Trae Golden G 6-1 207 Fr. HS Powder Springs, Ga. (McEachern HS)
20 Kenny Hall F 6-8 215 So. 1L Stone Mountain Ga. (Redan HS)
34 Jeronne Maymon F 6-7 258 So. Tr. Madison, Wisc. (Marquette University)
13 Skylar McBee G 6-3 184 So. 1L Rutledge, Tenn. (Grainger HS)
1 Jordan McRae G 6-6 173 Fr. HS Midway, Ga. (Liberty County HS)
15 Rob Murphy F 6-7 232 Jr. Tr. Brentwood, Tenn. (Lipscomb University)
14 Tyler Summitt G 6-0 175 Fr. Sq. Knoxville, Tenn. (Webb School)
23 Cameron Tatum G 6-6 192 Jr 2L Lithonia, Ga. (The Patterson School)
0 Renaldo Woolridge F 6-9 212 Jr. 2L Sherman Oaks, Calif. (Harvard-Westlake HS)

Tatum and Woolridge will be done after next year.

Golden, Hall, Maymon, McBee and McRae are on scholarship. They are being joined by 5 more guys. That makes 10 players on scholarship, so 3 to give.

If we are in the running for serious talent, I would expect McBee to lose his scholarship. Scholarships are year to year and it would not hurt recruiting or anything else if a guy who will be completely buried on the depth chart left school. I do not want an APR hit, but Martin will have his eye on that.

Coach Martin is a guy who will not play as many players as Bruce Pearl did. Martin wants to keep the rotation to 8 or so, with 5 guys really playing serious minutes.

Tyler Summit on scholarship? Do you think his gets taken away? I know his last name is summit but taking about being buried in a depth chart. This could be one of those dumb questions your talking about but like you said somebody has got to ask them. lol

Woolridge may get an extra year. It may be a long shot, but he's going to try.

Stokes and Poythress are must gets for Martin. They would make TN a contender again imo.

Them 2 and a PG will be what we go after imo.

These guys are joining Golden and McRae and I do not think McBee will play over them as a 1 guard or a 2 guard...

Tatum will definately be gone BUT Woolridge will seek a medical red-shirt because he didn't play last season.
If Woolridge gets a medical red-shirt, then he will return and we will only lose Tatum.
Once we get the loss of one scholarship for 2012 and the loss of one scholarship for 2013, we won't be able to replace Tatum.
Of course, if Woolridge doesn't get a medical red-shirt, then we will lose Woolridge and Tatum and we can replace one of them.
I am almost positive that we will lose one scholarship for 2012 & 2013.

That'll make it hard to put together a 2012 recruiting class.

Golden

The only inside guys with experience are:
Woolridge
Maymon
Hall

They are joined by
YEMI MAKANJUOLA
Ht:6'9"
Wt:230 lbs
A guy who came to Word of God Academy by way of Nigeria. He is certainly raw and certainly a project and...
Dwight Miller, 6'8, 240 highly regarded out of HS, went to Pitt, hurt his foot, buried on the depth chart...

We still have a wide open door for Stokes and Poythress and they would see Tobias Harris like time as true freshmen.

Josh Richardson and McRae could also make everyone forget about losing Scotty. I know that sounds crazy, but they may end up being dominant guards, and we could be a VERY long team playing 3 guards and 2 bigs.

Scholarship reduction makes McBee hitting the bricks even more likely.

I think we will have 3 or 4 scholarships remaining in 2012. There is no way that Coach Martin can handicap himself.

Depending on how the appeals process works, we could also appeal and during the pending appeal ignore the reduction, saving the pain for the following year.

I wouldn't count on McBee to lose his scholarship. Just like you said, CCM will play less guys more minutes. I think that would give Skylar a shot to heat up a bit more from outside. It's extremely difficult to get in any sort of rhythm, especially as a pure shooter that doesn't/can't do much else, when you're constantly in and out of the game.

High hopes if you ask me. Possible, but not probable.

Others could leave due to academics, misconduct, or other reasons. Don't know if CM will tolerate bad behavior or not.

Yeah, I've been told you could get high by being close to Brian William's car when he rolled the window down.
