I just finished watching yesterday's game on my DVR and listening to that idiot Brian Greasy talk about the great Sr. laden O and D lines and about how Butch would have difficulty replacing them. What a crock!

Sad and useless post.

The o line is what pisses me off the most. I mentioned it in the game thread yesterday and was told its because of having to learn different blocking styles 3 coaching staffs. That is a load of bs. As bad as the d was yesterday, we could have been in the game if the o line did their job and protected Dobbs better. Play calling was suspect at times as well. JMO

The offensive line has certainly under achieved. I should have noted, they have had 3 OL coaches in the last three years also. Tiny has not had the same coach.

IMO, the defensive line is playing about like their talent levels suggest. they have missed out on development due to having a new coach every year for the last 5 years. No continuity for this bunch is a huge factor. They are playing up to their level. its just not SEC level.

think of having a new coach every year the same as having a new boss every year. expectations change with each. How they want things done change with each. Understanding them changes with each.

Dumb post .

Any idiot that knows anything about football will reason that opposing defenses are keying down on the running game with little or no respect for our intermediate passing threat . Why ? Because there is no passing threat . Then when we get behind they are rushing the passer with no regard for the run . Give these same O-linemen a passing attack that functions and they will look like gold. Take them out of the situation where they are behind by 3 scores , they will look like gold.

The D line ...They have zero depth save for a couple of freshmen. Do you know of a team at the college or pro level that is very successful that has less than a 3 deep ? How about a 300 lb D linemen that plays great football for 80 snaps a game ?

seriously..we really need to look at all the facts

So I actually believe the D-line will be better next year. Not only will the guys starting will have the benefit if being in the system a year they will be a lot faster and athletic. Heck the whole D will be faster next year. The O-line may not be that great at pass blocking next year but I have the feeling they we be serviceable at pass blocking and nasty at run blocking.

Next years schedule is not near as difficult as this years. I feel like next year we should be allot more competitive.

didn't we say this last year?

"Oh Auburn & Mizzou are for sure wins." Im sure many vol fans said this.

Truth is you don't know how good a team is going to be so as far as you & I know what looks like an easier schedule could end up being pretty damn difficult

The biggest reason no one respects the passing game is because the WR's wont catch the ball. I mean Josh Smith is the worst. He is always open and won't catch the ball. I can name 3 WR who are on scholarship now who where offered scholarships just because they are from the east tn area.

of the 2014 class does anyone know who will be redshirts and who will play as true freshman?? We have several talented defensive players coming in, Barnett and Kelly to name a couple.

They tried hard though and play for Tennessee. You can't critique them, bro.

Agree. They love UT and want to win more than we do so they're off limits. Actually, so do the coaches so we can't criticize them either. Come to think of it, most on here love UT and want to win so maybe all criticism and critiquing should be shelved. Only unicorns and rainbow gifs allowed from here on out. This ought to be a fun place.

The OL did OK in pass protection, IMO, but the run blocking was non existant. McCullers looked like he took the night off. Maybe there is not enough speed anywhere on the D to defend a spread offense.

That is true. I wouldn't be looking at next year's schedule.

Our offensive and defensive linemen certainly don't suck, but they played pretty poorly against Missouri. These guys are too experienced to be getting outrushed by 245 yards, regardless of the competition.

The good news is that next year we will have 2 of CBJ's classes and 2-3 of Dooley's.

It will take some to purge our roster of the loser mentality fostered under Dooley.
