One thing i don't get is how everyone talks about how good the O line is. If they are so good then why can't we run the ball up the middle? We always run side to side and still get brought down. Are they just over rated or do our backs stink that bad? I mean 4th and 1 and you punt the ball? That shows lack of confidence in the line.

They're dead to rights so long as there isn't a real pass threat.

We did average nearly 5 yards a carry last week and still ran for over 170 yards as a team.

O-line is good, but they're still a lot better in pass pro than run blocking. That shouldn't matter, they're still good in run blocking. Our back just aren't very good. They're average to below average SEC backs at best. Hate to say it. I like Neal and Lane, appreciate what they've done for the program. But they're a step slow and lack the other attributes that good backs in this league possess.

I see that but you watch our team compared to other teams like GA, SC, FL, when we run the ball there is no comparing. We look like gradeschool vs highschool. So were good on pass rush but suck to run the ball. Sounds like an O-Line coaching problem to me. We have to make holes because we can not throw the ball. And this read option crap won't work with Worley he never runs the ball even a moron can figure that out.

Of the great backs in the SEC right now, how many have an equally great QB?

I didn't expect to win on Sat but dang we got trashed and made to look weak. I know it's early but did you watch vandy s.c.? S.C. is pretty good and Vandy kept it close. I think it's going to be a very long season because even WKU moved the ball on us with ease we just got a fluke run of breaks and scored. You look at Gurley run the ball or Yeldon run the ball they make our RB's look silly. Even Special teams they return the ball and it's explosive after they catch the ball, we look like turtles going up field with the ball. It just shows how really we have no talent that compares in the SEC. I love my team and will pull each week but reality really set in after Saturday.

One thing I noticed in watching the game Sat as well as the Eagles game yesterday, is that Thomas for Oregon and McCoy for the Eagles simply follow the blockers when there isn't a hole. On TV it looks like a pile of humanity but it gains 5 yards simply by pushing and falling forward.

Neal, especially, seems to be searching for a hole. Sometimes it isn't there. Just get behind the OL and take 4-6 yards.

Its too early to call this line overrated. Since we played the worse team and the best team. If we can't get anything done against Florida next weekend. Then its safe to call them overrated.

The OLine is fine. The RB just needs to hit the hole fast. They reverted to the tip-toeing and running backwards. Old habits die hard. This is due to the poor coaching under Dooley.

I think it goes back to middle and high school for a lot of these RB's. Most of them were the best player on their team. They had to create and could scramble for big runs and TD's.

I agree, they should hit the hole and gain positive yards on every carry.

Perhaps we try to run around the ends because our coaching staff thinks our team speed is better than Oregon's.

Marlin Lane looks pretty good behind that line.. He needs the bulk of the carries.. Neal dances, looks like a finesse back.. He's big enough to run with power but he doesn't.

When we run the read option, we only have one option.......give the ball to the running back. Simply, we have no read option, there is no option, therefore, stack the line and stop the running back. A defensive game plan against Tennessee could be directed by a 6th grader. Wow , lots of money for average coaching, but excellent recruiting. When our stadium is half empty against South Alabama, where do we go from there. I do like Butch Jones, but lets be realistic, use the freshmen. After all, what do we have to lose ??? Just another azz whipping. Give them a chance because I doubt neither will play out their eligibility. Common sense goes a long way in the coaching venue.

When we punt on 4th and 1 it shows no confidence at all in the line or the backs.

I agree we need a change fast Worley is not an option QB. Plenty of freshman QB's are doing well in this day and time. If one of them can run the ball try it and see if it works because now as it stands Florida will stomp us as well if the offense is the same this week.

if Tennessee had De'Anthony Thomas the OP would be saying we have the greatest O-Line of all time.

I beg to differ if you have a good line then there are holes big enough to drive trucks through and plainly you can see we have no holes at all.

nope! like its been said when the other defense can bring 7-8 down to the box then it wouldnt matter who is on the oline. hard to run when there is NO ZERO NONE NADA pass threat

When the 1s were still in the game we had barely over 100; we only had about 220 yards total offense with the 1s in. The 2s got nearly as much in the 4th quarter when it really was already over.
