I generally watch Conan every night and watch Leno once or twice a week.

I've noticed they don't do Obama jokes. If they mention him, the joke is about someone else (e.g. Bush, McCain, etc.). However, there's a "McCain is old joke" every night.

Anyone else notice this?

I think they're afraid to make fun of him.

The late night comics heard how much Obama gets crushed at Vol Nation and decided not to touch him in order to even things out.

But seriously, this guy is going to get the red carpet, kid gloves treatment all the way to November.

Well it's the liberal media, but yeah they're afraid they'll get slammed if they say anything. Add that to the fact they want himt o win, you're not going to get much in the way of jokes. Look what happened to SNL, and they're all libs.

Nobody's gonna make a joke about a black presidential candidate.

Bush gets the dumb jokes.
McCain gets the old jokes.
Obama gets what.....black jokes? Even the ones that aren't racist? Nobody would dare.

Well, Dave Chapelle would if he had a late night show.

the only things out there today that warrant late night skit stuff are socialism (which the authors believe in), lack of experience (which the authors aren't sharp enough to see as a problem), change theme (which they buy into) and racially charged associations (which just doesn't work). I'm not sure where they would go right now.

I think this is closer to what I was thinking. Leno and O'Brien definitely don't have a problem making fun of Democrats so I'm not chocking it up to liberal bias. Their schtick is typically jokes about physical traits, blunders, etc.

As for The Daily Show, the Obama agenda fits their world view more closely so I'm not expecting them to mock policy choices by Obama like they would for McCain. It's unfortunate since comedy should routinely rip everyone!

theyhave to be politically correct. that makes me sick. again another example how we are becoming a pansy country. any joke against obama is going to be labeled racist. i'd call him a dbag in front of him, God, and the rest of the country if just given the opportunity

They have plenty of places to go, but as you said, they don't want to. My goodness, they should be able to get 1/4 of a monologue out of the Winnie the Pooh ordeal.

Conan had someone on the other night singing about Obama... I know it was supposed to be funny, but it was still pro-Obama; also, do you know how many jokes could be told about Michelle and Obama? A lot.

Ok. Why is there not a joke in how his lips look like they don't get enough oxygen? And, I'm not making some racist statement about thick lips, they look like they're blue.

I watched the new Dana Carvey stand up special on HBO last night.

He did it the right way IMHO. He made fun of Reagan, Perot, Clinton, Gore, Bush Sr., W., Kerry, Obama and McCain. I wish the rest of the comedy world would follow suit.

He did blister everyone, but it just wasn't very funny.
