Obama at odds

In an interview with Woodward last summer, the president said, "We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger."

What was the real point in making this comment?

[ ] That we will win

[ ] That the terrorists will lose

[x] Both of the above because we are resilient and the greatest country on Earth

Whether you like it or not, he's the POTUS. This is exactly what he should be saying.

Similar to someone in a bad relationship who keeps cheating, because subconsciously they want to get caught which would end the relationship... Obama keeps saying idiotic things because subconsciously he knows he's not qualified to be the POTUS, so he's doing what he can to make sure he's not re-elected.

With the other things that have come out from this book, I doubt this was some feel good, kumbaya, tough guy comment. It has more to do with we can pull out (as indicated he's wanted since the beginning) and just take what comes based on that. It's a retreat and just deal with the repercussions here at home mentality.

That makes perfect sense given that he's been advocating focusing the effort in Afghanistan for about the past 6 years, including pissing off his own base by re-committing to it when he first took office.

Has it ever once occured to you that maybe his access to information is, oh, I don;t know, a wee bit better than yours?

Other tidbits from the book.

Holbrooke said people in the field were referring to Obama's inner circle as the 'politboro.'

Patraeus is quoted as saying Axelrod is spin crazy.

Frustrated that his top military advisers failed to provide him an exit plan for Afghanistan, President Obama crafted his own strategy

I question how this was written. If the president asked for an exit strategy and did not get one or an actual surge instead, then the military failed him. You can cry and moan about him all you like but if I was the president and that happened the entire Joint Chiefs would be looking for new jobs.

Has it ever occurred to you this is where I got it from? Again, if you bothered reading beyond a headline you'd figure this stuff out. Read the excerpts coming out. Obama does NOT want to be there AT ALL.

Can you make a single post about an issue with a little more depth than just a knee jerk reaction to a headline? Do you even bother reading the story and looking deeper into it?

Really? He has taken pretty much none of the advice given on what the guys on the ground say/need. Not to mention he is setting a time to leave. This ain't the 4th quarter and you have the ball running the clock out. You might ought to check his definition of winning.

"We are gonna try and keep this from happening, (to an extent, i.e. we have to be out by "x" date) but if it does happen we can overcome it."

Gateway Pundit

During a daily intelligence briefing in May 2009, Mr. Blair [former Director of Intelligence] warned the president that radicals with American and European passports were being trained in Pakistan to attack their homelands.

Mr. Emanuel afterward chastised him, saying, “You’re just trying to put this on us so it’s not your fault.” Mr. Blair also skirmished with Mr. Brennan about a report on the failed airliner terrorist attack on Dec. 25. Mr. Obama later forced Mr. Blair out.

A significant number of moslems in America send their children to be educated in foreign madrassas, mostly in Pakistan, which are nothing more that religious indoctrination centers.

John Bolton on FOX:

“If the book is accurate … it is some of the most cold-blooded, cynical, grotesquely political manipulation of national security that I think we’ve ever seen.”

“The notion that a President would say that in that kind of callous and just utterly robotic way, I think is yet further indication that Obama is simply not qualified to be Commander-in-Chief,”

(Note; in the last Bolton quote in the link, the transcription should read 'umempathetic' instead of 'unemphatic.')
