In an interview with Woodward last summer, the president said, "We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger."
What was the real point in making this comment?

[ ] That we will win
[ ] That the terrorists will lose
[x] Both of the above because we are resilient and the greatest country on Earth
Whether you like it or not, he's the POTUS. This is exactly what he should be saying.
With the other things that have come out from this book, I doubt this was some feel good, kumbaya, tough guy comment. It has more to do with we can pull out (as indicated he's wanted since the beginning) and just take what comes based on that. It's a retreat and just deal with the repercussions here at home mentality.
That makes perfect sense given that he's been advocating focusing the effort in Afghanistan for about the past 6 years, including pissing off his own base by re-committing to it when he first took office.
Has it ever once occured to you that maybe his access to information is, oh, I don;t know, a wee bit better than yours?
Frustrated that his top military advisers failed to provide him an exit plan for Afghanistan, President Obama crafted his own strategy

During a daily intelligence briefing in May 2009, Mr. Blair [former Director of Intelligence] warned the president that radicals with American and European passports were being trained in Pakistan to attack their homelands.
Mr. Emanuel afterward chastised him, saying, Youre just trying to put this on us so its not your fault. Mr. Blair also skirmished with Mr. Brennan about a report on the failed airliner terrorist attack on Dec. 25. Mr. Obama later forced Mr. Blair out.
If the book is accurate it is some of the most cold-blooded, cynical, grotesquely political manipulation of national security that I think weve ever seen.
The notion that a President would say that in that kind of callous and just utterly robotic way, I think is yet further indication that Obama is simply not qualified to be Commander-in-Chief,
