President Obama: America 'Not Better Off' Today than Four Years Ago - Yahoo!

The American people, he conceded, are "not better off" than they were four years ago.

But then...

but objected to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's comments that he divided people more than united them. Republicans, he said, have stood in the way of working with him time and again to fix the economy.

"At every step of way, I have tried to get the Republican Party to work with me on the biggest crisis of our lifetime. And each time we've gotten 'No,'" he said.

Funny in that claiming he's a uniter he dumps all the blame on one side. Sure sounds divisive to me.

Then the big whammy that shows he does not believe in the free market:

Responding to a question about Bank of America's recent decision to charge users a $5 fee for using a debit card, Obama said government should get involved and that he had worked to stop banks from charging hidden credit card fees.

Seriously? I mean come on, there's a much easier solution. Let BoA customers decide. They can easily switch to a bank that doesn't do this.

If government involvement was "the fix". Americans would be better off today than four years ago.

As long as there is partisan politics, then no one will be a uniter. Whether you like it or not, he's going to say it. Everyone would say that, no matter where we sat.

Im not a fan of politics from either side, however...
His problem lies when he had total control he spent a bunch of money and even by his own admission the american people of not better off for it.

Not sure everyone would say that. He looks more insincere IMHO when he does it like that.

There were partisan politics in place in NJ when Christie was elected, and yet he's been able to get quite a bit accomplished. It largely comes down to leadership and Obama doesn't have it.

What does the first statement have to do with the others? I'm missing the connection.

How are they contradictory? Or is that not what you were getting at?

Not what I'm getting at.

He told the truth in the first one. Lied in the second. Showed his true feelings about free markets in the third. They are unconnected.

Government has never really fixed anything. He has basically tried to start a civil war with the class warfare thing. His act is getting old and 2012 can't get here soon enough.
