Kind of counter productive. Maybe they should think about not extending unemployment benefits until the end of time. Might solve the problem.

The timing is very telling. Won't start until 2014. That is a tacit acknowledgement that we will be at high unemployment levels beyond 2014 if we are rebuilding unemployment insurance pools starting at that time.

Obama comes from the same school of economic thought as gibbs. Neither quite understands that the generation of wealth is good for the economy as a whole. Somehow they'd rather pursue "fairness" even if those they currently see as "victims" have their situations get worse for the effort. Much like the old soviet model... they think it is better for everyone to be equally miserable than for almost everyone to be unequally happy/prosperous.
