complete and utter garbage.
much of his campaign secrecy and outright falsehoods are now out in the open. He would have a damn tough campaign trail.

He could just make it up last year. That option is finished.

obama's economic people just said they expect unemployment to remain this high for the next YEAR. way to set high expectations. if true the dems are going to lose a lot of seats in the next election.

I'm afraid that once the economy and employment rebound he will get the undeserved credit which will allow him to be re-elected. But, I think that the way he is governing the rebound may not come during his first term.

he will definetely take credit for it. i already have multiple democrat friends saying "how can you be upset with obama and the stimilus with the dow over 10,000?" unfortunetly the american people are too stupid to realize the economy can succeed despite the president.

and not because of the president.

I know that you work in the market some how, but I don't. (other than having a couple of 401 K's). I can assure you that in my circle of friends/family we do not really see the economy as improved/improving even with the dow over 10k. It simply doesn't affect us like that. We notice our neighbors, friends, and family losing jobs and struggling to find new ones. Unfortunately, people who work or have worked for a living tend to be conservative. I say this to make a broad assumption that a majority of people who lost their jobs probably didn't vote D this last time with the exception of the unionized auto industry workers who have experienced massive layoffs.

The job market in Nashville is like this. My wife is an underwriter who was laid off in January. She found employment in April, significant pay cut. After speaking with her new employer she found out that there were 2 thousand applications for the job she applied for.

i haven't seen it either which is why i think the dow is going to tank. but i'm sure people say that to me more because they know i'm in the business. i have to remind them that the economy is in the toilet and the stimiulus package was supposed to be the savior of the job market.

I am beginning to think you will not see a major recovery during his term. Honestly. Exactly what will be the driver behind a recovering economy? Can you name it? Manufacturing? Doubt it. Construction? Again, doubt it.

And yet, if the election were today, he'd crush anything the GOP could muster.

it was all he could do to get 53.6 percent of the vote and the only reason why McCain didn't get elected is because the economy tanked and national frustration with the GOP was at an all time high. If you don't think those sentiments have shifted radically, you're delusional.

McCain lost the election when he "suspended" his campaign to go back and vote for an extremely unpopular bill in TARP. I know Obama did as well, but McCain made it so visible he completely lost any fence sitters. In a way I agree with LG's assertion. Yes, Obama is not doing himself and his future any favors, but really the GOP is not far behind him. They are doing everything they can to not be all out fiscally conservative. They have gone back to the board room so to speak, and won't come out. I think the people want a true alternative not just the lesser of two evils.
