I'll post a google link so you can pick whatever source you would like to get the information. I heard about this, earlier this morning. It makes me sick, since he couldn't get his pic taken, he decided not to go and go to the gym to workout instead. What a freaking tool bag. What's everyones thoughts on this? Tenn NC you are more than welcome to try to defend this.

I can't say I know the motives here for sure but is does look like he canceled this leg of the trip because it couldn't be used as a photo op for his campaign. I've heard other stories about his managers shuffling some people around who had some facial scars for photos, afraid it would not be good for the image they want to portray. If they are true it is certainly disturbing.

I agree...regardless he should have went. He didn't go because he probably couldn't have his picture taken which is very very sad.

I have a friend in the service in Germany. He is not a political person and looked forward to Obama's visit, he said if nothing else it would be a welcome diversion from the every day. He told me Obama had little or no contact with the troops and instead spent his time with the officers. He could have spent time with the average American troop but instead played a bball game with officers. He said the overall impression from the guys stationed there was pretty negative.

I wonder if he realizes how much that would hurt him! He could have spent time with them...they are the reason we stay safe!

Message to Obama, go ahead and start acting like a phony politician, apparently that's what these people want. Start kissing babies, build a new home for a returning soldier alongside Ty Pennington, wear three flag lapel pins and tell everyone that Lee Greenwood is your favorite recording artist.

So showing respect and concern for wounded soldiers would be a lie by Obama in your opinion? Because you are saying he really has no concern or appreciation for them and you are ok with that?

Or the part I wrote about him explaining why he didn't go? I guess you skipped over that? Why did he visit the wounded troops in Walter Reed and Afghanistan if he hates them so much? I guess on those cases he's exploiting the troops and in this case he doesn't care? It's going to be spinned against him no matter how he handles it. I don't believe for one second that Obama doesn't care about our troops and speaking of exploiting our troops, he's not the one making commercials on the situation.

this is an idiotic post, no offense to you 615, but the fact that you won't go see the guys who are hurt while serving you is pathetic. i would consider myself very patriotic, but that's the way i grew up. both granddads and most of my great granddads fought in wars. i wanted to go to the marines out of hs, but my granddad who fought in the korean war had a little talk w/ me and wanted me to go to college instead so i did. i'm very grateful for all the men and women who fight to protect this country. i'm guessing you would just ignore them yourself?

I did not see what you wrote as to why he didn't go. Was specifically referencing your idea of him being a "phony policitican". So to you, him going to visit them would have been phony of him?

No, I would love to meet them today but I'm a nobody to them so it wouldn't be too exciting on their end. I would love to visit soldiers and tell them thank you for the sacrifice they make for my freedom. As far as Obama, I just don't think he did this in spite of our troops. I was being sarcastic of course by saying act like a phony politician but it was, in my opinion, an honest bad move. He should have gone to visit them to get their thoughts and to simply tell them he appreciates their service but to think that he didn't go because he refused to as if he hates these people is just wrong IMO. I'm not sticking up for the bad judgment of not going, I am sticking up for Obama appreciating these people, I believe he does.

I think the troop thing is overblown but Obama is clearly already a phony politician.

Absolutely, if he hadn't visited any troops while he was overseas that would be one thing. Of course, he did visit troops while he was there.

If he goes to see the wounded soldiers all the people that are giving him crap for not going right now would be saying "how dare he politicize wounded soldiers." Lose-Lose
