Obama to Lawmakers: Remember Which Ideas Won the Election | 44 | washingtonpost.com

Obama said he was aware of the criticism of his spending package, but said the criticisms were rooted in "the very same failed theories that helped lead us into this crisis in the first place," including the notion that tax cuts offered the best path to a recovery.

"I reject those theories, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change," Obama said. "So I urge members of Congress to act without delay."

"I'm the decider."

the American people didn't reject capitalism. They rejected government playing an ever increasing role in our daily lives. If the people who voted for Obama think the government is oppressive now, wait til Universal Health Care is instituted or New York, Chicago and LA have more street cameras than London does now.

Wait til Obama and friends come for our guns.

I saw this live and had the same reaction. Apparently he hasn't seen the poll numbers indicated about 37% support the stimulus plan while about 45% oppose it.

Some "mandates" mean more than others?

The ironies are numerous but here's a few:

1. His admin wants at least 40% of the package to be tax cuts but the Dems aren't cooperating.

2. He claimed to take good ideas from anywhere but is bluntly saying here that the criticisms aren't legit.

3. His claim that most economists support this plan is false and was rebutted by 100's of economists putting an ad in the WashPo, NYT, etc.

and nonexistent mandates are nonexistent.

The mandate for him was Pacifism and free money. He's working both hard.
