CHICAGO – Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Saturday he didn't know his aunt was living in the United States illegally and believes that laws covering the situation should be followed.

The Associated Press found that Obama's aunt had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya. The woman, Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), is living in public housing in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama's late father.

IIRC she was important enough to make it into his book so one would think he would keep up with her (or at least give her some of the profits)

interesting she could still contribute to his campaign

The campaign will return $265 in contributions that Onyango made to Obama, citing prohibitions against foreign nationals donating to American campaigns.

why is this whole issue being portrayed as a Rovian plot to destroy Obama?

Rove knows that if you use something like this, you don't wait until 72 hours before the election and the Candidate is regarded as the Messiah.

Is that a surprise. For the last weeks i've been building a new utility structure in a housing project, lots of Luxury SUVs and the like. But you can bet your ass when the foodshare truck pulls up, every one of the motherscratchers are lined up with their hands out.

I guess you can live a pretty good life if you are willing to sacrifice your pride and overall worth as a human being by living off of entitlements

Yeah Right! He didn't know Reverend Wright was a Racist Bigot who detests America. He didn't know about his good friend Rashidi being the PLO leader and former mothpiece of an anti israeli terrorist organization. He did know about the Weatherman Terrorist, his good friend Bill Ayers. He didn't know Michelle's business associate was a Weatherman Terrorist also, ayer's wife worked with at the same Chicago lay firm. He didn't know about the shady real estate dealings of his good friend Rezko. He didn't know his wife was and is a racist who until just this year hated America. He didn't think anything wrong with joining his good friend Farakhan in his racist march. There are a lot of folks surrounding Obama whom he does not know.

WHAT ELSE AND WHO ELSE DOES THIS CHARACTER CONVENIENTLY NOT KNOW??????

This does indeed seem odd. I assume he knows she is a foreign national. I suppose its possible he was unaware of her status, though. Still, you'd think knowing that she is a foreign national someone from his staff would have checked on this.

Umm don't you think she would have asked him for some help on these matters too? It's been 4 years. Chances he didn't know about this are virtually zero.

further, if he didn't help as a senator, he's the narcissistic prick we read about the other day. If he did help, he knew and should have lived by the law. Additionally, if he knew AND left her in gov't housing, he's a POS.
