obama taking over the newspapers

One of the big problems with the FTC report is that they attempt to put boundaries on "old media" and then support those that fit the criteria.

Call me paranoid but having an Exec Branch agency define what qualifies as a "news org" is a dangerous precedent.

What I find hilarious is the fact that they want to tax sites like Drudge and Digg, when all they do is link to content that is posted freely on the 'old media' websites. Its not like these sites can link to pay only content.

74% Oppose Taxing Internet News Sites To Help Newspapers - Rasmussen Reports

so hussein's ftc wants to give money to the newspapers that are failing. he's basically trying to take them over too. socialism at it's finest.

Why is this Obama taking over the newspapers??? This was an idea discussed by the FTC. 2/5 of the commissioners on the FTC are Republicans.

I think there are a million ideas a day passed around in Washington that will never be promulgated into law.

The fact that the FTC, given that it is absolutely dem controlled today and they are even talking about idiotic crap like having any media beholden to the purse string holder is pathetic. It's not a new law, but it's awfully naive to assume the administration isn't involved, especially given Obama's penchant for shutting down those who disagree with his view.

All I'm saying is that we tend to jump the gun a little quick on this site. Seriously, millions of stupid ideas are discussed on the hill each week. That's a good reason to have the media - they report on it and then we know who is up to what. But it can go too far - some people get called out for just brainstorming and throwing out possibilities.

Ain't no wrong answer in brainstorming.... :)
