It is unusual for a justice to have no experience on the bench, but I was surprised to see just how little judicial experience many of the current justices had before being named to the court. There are numerous justices with less than 3 years or so on the bench prior to the Supreme Court.
A number of people, including GOP folks, have been for years saying that a lot of non-judiical legal experience would be a good thing.
On the other hand, I am more than a little miffed that my own phone didn't ring this morning.
I don't know anything about her.
Glad to see all of you are keeping an open mind aobut her since you also don't know a thing about her.
Oh, wait. Almost forgot. Since she is nominated by Obama, and you are sworn to do everything in your power to decry every move he makes, even if it makes perfect sense, you are obliged to criticize this selection, as well.
Sorry, almost forgot your knee-jerk anti-Obama at all costs role in the matter. Whew!
right and i'm sure all of your opinions about the TP come from tens of hours of painstaking research. her bio is public knowledge. i see no reason why i cannot comment on it.
I used the word "qualified", but I don't think there's much doubt that she's capable of doing the job.
I just don't understand why Obama didn't select a sitting judge with an established record.
