"Over the weekend, the president-elect revealed the outlines of a sweeping programme aimed at creating or saving 2.5m jobs by January 2011 through investment in infrastructure, public services and “green” technology."

this is a portion of obama's socialist plan. he's disguised it as creating jobs. he'll create government jobs but no private jobs. what a joke.

should we call ourselves The Peoples Republic of America?

The president can't create private jobs, he can only improve the atmpsphere for that. Announcing a large government hiring program to put people to work is nothing new. And the whole point is to help get dollars circulating from these workers' paychecks to grocery stores to banks to being lent to entrepeneurs to waitresses to landlords to retailers ... who go out and hire people.

i know he can't create private jobs. he's going to double the fed workforce. if he really wants to create jobs. let him cut taxes, we'll see how high the stock market goes. socialisms doesn't create wealth.

so when he raises taxes for these government jobs, the private sector will have to cut back on their hirings and and spending which will cause more jobs loss. that will equal less taxes going into the treasury. it doesn't help the economy.

the real question is when the economy recovers will we be able to fire all these new gov't workers?

Neither does trickle down economics.
Neither does 700 billion dollar bailouts of wall street.

The big three auto makers need the money to re-tool and stay afloat.I would rather the money go their as wall street.

Creating American jobs at home is the only way to drive this economy. If it has to be government jobs so be it.
Every company that has sent jobs over seas is a contributor to this country being,I would say robbed, but it's more like a heist of wealth,so raped is more applicable.

you're not creating jobs thought, it's being redistributed. i agree with you i don't think the bailouts are good at all. i don't think the auto unions should get the bailout too. if you want jobs not to go overseas, lower the corporate taxes and you'll see jobs be created here.

If he's good to his word?

HE will be giving tax breaks to those who stay in the states. Not rewards those who go overseas.

I know congress is still debating Drill or go green.
This is such a no brainer I think the rest of the country can see you do both! Talk about creating jobs.

As far as taxes I also think everybody knows and knew when they voted for him, taxes were going up.

Corporations took the bush tax cuts and ran.
Americans are tied of all the special interest shown to big business.

Some one once said you can judge a country by the way
It treats its prisoners(the authur of war and peace).

I say you can judge a country by how much it kisses big businesses butt.:)

really? he's going to give tax breaks to job who hire Americans? he may, but he already said he's going to increase their taxes, he's already promised to raise corporate taxes.

do you know why companies go over seas? we have the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world.

congress is not going to allow any drilling, with the new congress coming in. they are going push inefficient wind and solar crap that can't support itself financially.

Bush tax cuts for those evil rich companies (the same companies that probably hired you) have creates millions of jobs over the last 8 years once we recovered from 9/11.

companies should get tax breaks. who do you think does the hiring? what allows your 401k to grow? what allows your IRA grow? it's by putting money in big businesses. the less taxes you pay, the more return you have in your 401k.

don't hate private companies. they are not bad, you have just been brainwashed by media and education.

you think the government kisses business butts? so naive, the government can now destroy any business just by investigating them based on some bogus environmental law. the gov can destroy any company it wants to

Based on your posts, you are the only one in here who has been brainwashed. And rather badly, I might add.

How old are you anyway? What is your highest level of education?

I think there needs to be a very well thought out plan
were THE MIDDLE works out a feasible plan were everybody gets theirs.I believe it to be possible so I feel do most Americans.

These 8 year swings of philosophical thought and swings of opinion. Were for 8 years we try one ideology and then the other is as much at fault as any swing of opinion voice here.

free market enterprise has been proven over and over to work. that's one of the reasons America became a rich nation.

i haven't voted for any democrats. i would have voted for some in Georgia, but they retired before i moved here.

one of the biggest party of the democratic party is that their leadership has gone so far left, the are socialist (and in many circles, almost marxist). i don't think republicans are much better, they've gone liberal too (today compared to Reagan's era) but i think this new president is going to so far left, many of our liberties will be thrown away. wait until he start appointing judges.

Everything points to him governing from the middle.
He's more of a reganite than you think. This was put- forth by republican pundits on election night.

I don't disagree with the house and senate being left
I believe they should move more center.

As far as curtailing of liberties. The patriot act should be overturned post haste.

I have seen Obama's plan called New Deal II.

We are still paying (literally) for FDR's New Deal. We absolutely cannot afford Obama's socialist agenda. Look for exorbitant tax rates similar to some European countries.

what on earth makes you think that the pundits aren't just hoping?

Your point about using Reagan's philosophy to describe Obama is one of the most ridiculous comparisons I've ever read on this site.

By all indications in recent weeks he is showing, more so than not, that he will govern from the center. You want to point to his voting record in the Senate and some of the campaign BS geared at the far left to get the nomination. ALMOST EVERONE that is either center right or center left, with previous presidential adminstrative experience, predicts he is going to govern from the center. Now I realize you are smarter than almost everyone everywhere, but I think I am safe saying he is going to govern from the center to center-left.

what else is there to go on. If he moves dramatically away from his left positions, he's a fraud. I'd like to think he will for we'll all be better off, but he was elected for his far leftism.
