Obama Pushes NCLR Official With Ties To Spy As U.S. Ambassador | Judicial Watch

President Obama is determined to push through a foreign ambassadorship for a controversial figure whose close ties to a spy from a terrorist-sponsoring nation derailed a similar post for the same aspiring diplomat in the Clinton Administration.
------------------------------

Aponte’s relationship with the Cuban spy came out when the FBI vetted her for the Dominican ambassadorship years ago and has resurfaced because Obama is set on making her the U.S. ambassador to El Salvador. To avoid discussing her relationship with Tamayo at Senate confirmation hearings, Aponte withdrew Clinton’s nomination to be ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

Evidently, Obama thought enough time had passed to make it all disappear. The president originally nominated Aponte in December 2009 and made her a recess appointee about a year later in order to bypass Republican opposition. As her temporary, one-year tenure expires, Senate confirmation can no longer be avoided so the issue has again resurfaced.

But what the heck, considering the spineless nature of the republicrat party these days, who knows.

I know of two spineless Tennessee republicrats I won't be voting for in the future and make no mistake, I have sworn that I will never ever vote for any dhimicrap under any circumstance.

Guilt by association. Love this country!
Guilty wasn't the verdict. Unworthy of ambassadorship apparently was. I would imagine that's still the case and that's why we saw the back door appointment process.

Not sure I understand the problem with that approach to representing our country. Spend your time in the sewers with rats and it's gonna leave a mark.

She was romantically involved with a man that turned out to be a spy. Whether or not she knew he was a spy is pure speculation; if he was a good spy, would she have known?

Do you have a vetting process for everyone you have ever been romantically involved with that insures that they are not connected with any foreign or domestic intelligence services? I do not and I think the expectation that persons should have such a process is unreasonable; therefore, one should not be kept from attaining said position because they are a reasonable person who happened to have been deceived at some point in their life.

You're welcome to that opinion, but it makes no sense to me to knowingly sign someone up for the gig when everyone else knows the score. I'm not pointing fingers here. We aren't obligated to hire and we shouldn't. This is as good of a reason as any to preclude someone from foreign service.

You're up early this morning, get all the drunks off the highways?

Personally I think it should be against the law for any sober person to be at the wheel on the road between 2:30am and 5:30am.

An American Expat in Southeast Asia

For the Indonesians, the separatist conflict in West Papua has little to do with state sovereignty and more so to do with religious strife.

The West Papuans deserve more than noncommittal gobbledygook from America. They deserve freedom.

An American Expat in Southeast Asia: Obama: Throwing Papua Under the Bus

In an article entitled "A Forgotten Cause", Peter Tatchell sheds light on the plight of the West Papuans, many of whom are Christians and have suffered under Indonesia's brutal policy of ethnic and religious persecution. The untold story though is how the Obama campaign would sell out the West Papuans in a desperate attempt to protect Obama's presidential bid.
----------------------------

The challenge of course was securing Indonesian goverment records potentially damaging to Barack Obama's candidacy for the US presidency as well as other records pertaining to a young Barry Soetoro and his family wouldn't be so easy to acquire and secure, and for this, the visitors would need the assistance and cooperation of the Indonesian government.

It's not that getting Indonesian government help is difficult, it's not. It's no secret that Indonesia is one of the most corrupt countries on the planet, but we're not talking about the challenge of dealing with corrupt government officials here, but rather, dealing with the "true believers of change". Convincing the Indonesian government that an Obama presidency will be able to deliver that "change" and that it was in the interest of both countries to see that Barack Obama was elected was nothing more than a fait accompli for Faleomavaega's entourage.

For West Papau's governor in attendance, having been pacified at the prospect that an Obama presidency would enable him to make zillions trading carbon credits on the Chicago Climate Exchange, Barnabas Suebu would sit quietly as the fate of West Papau was decided.

The only issue of contention Faleomavaega would face from the Indonesian government would be the issue of West Papau. In the end, it was simply a give and take situation. The Obama campaign needed assistance from the Indonesian government and the Indonesian government wanted a free hand in Papau.
----------------------

No press release, nothing, not even a mere mention of his trip to Indonesia.

In the end, everyone got what they wanted, all to the detriment of the West Papuans.

The is no denying the fact that the prospects of an Obama presidency has emboldened the Indonesian government's brutal repression in Papau. In an earlier article, we would explain in detail how an Obama presidency would stoke ethnic and religious chauvinism in Indonesia and how Indonesia's Islamic fundamentalists will use an Obama presidency to radicalize a new contingent of militants from the ranks of Islam's moderates. Individuals who are mesmerized by the phantasmagorical image of one of their own now inhabiting the White House and who will see it as a sign of America's impending submission and our nation's acquiescence to the superiority of Islam. Tee-shirts blazoned with messianic images of Barack Hussein Obama are already starting to replace the Osama Bin Laden tee-shirts that have been so popular in Indonesia. In Indonesia Barack Obama is fast becoming the "Che Guevara" of Indonesia's young wannabe Islamists.

I don't understand how people can be so stupid as they are, except maybe from the ignorance from which they draw their conclusions but still, that isn't an excuse, especially when presented with the truth.

Anyway, Barack Hussein Obama is a sorry piece of dog crap, the worst president in American history and anyone who doesn't realize that has his or her head up someone's kazoo.

Wow, GS; it only took eight posts for you to come into your own thread, hijack it, and completely change the subject.

I was banking on him being facetious. Or at least that's what I try to convince myself of.

It would be a very dull world if you couldn't poke fun at OE.

So you approve of the appointment of Aponte?

You think Sotomayor and Kagan were good appointments also?

The reference to Obama's Indonesian trip and his turning of a blind eye and a deaf ear to the oppressed there only enlarges on what a useless POS he really is once you get past the sound bites he reads from a teleprompter.

When Obama declares war on fellow americans and his actions result in the death of over 600,000 of them just to make sure they pay their taxes, then I will agree he may arguably be the worst president ever. Maybe when he oversees the new deal and destroys all limits on federal overreach, then I will agree that he may arguably be the worst president ever.

Obama definitely sucks, but he is far from being the worst ever. Bottom 30% probably.

Yep. I really don't see the controversy here. There have to be 1000s of qualified candidates that don't have this baggage.

So you think Lincoln and FDR were worse.

Who else?
