Financial regulation: Financial reform bill calls for diversity - latimes.com

A House Republican aide said one agency estimated that the office would cost it about $270,000 a year.

30 agencies at $270K a year is $8.1 million a year.

Also like this part:

The effect is hard to gauge because the law gives the director of every new office the authority to develop each agency's own standards for equal employment, as well as at the companies they regulate and contract with for such services as asset management. If the legislation is interpreted broadly, the diversity requirements could reach down to subcontractors that provide food or janitorial services — something not required under current rules, said Jon Geier, an employment law expert at the Paul Hastings law firm.

I like how the first line of the bill says "to promote the financial stability of the United States...." and then they spend the next 2,300 pages doing the exact opposite.

At least this bill has already been passed so we can find out what's in it.

I say if lawmakers need more than 10 pages to get the text of a proposed law down on paper, then they need to spend a little more time thinking it through.
