It's his now. Forget about Nixon. Forget about Reagan and H.W. Bush. Obama is ramping it up. He owns it now.

sigh.

Unfortunately there is too much money tied up in the failed war on drugs for it to go away any time in the near future. Relentlessly expanding private prison systems gonna relentlessly expand.

There is not and has never been a war on drugs.

It is a war against american citizens exercising freedom.

Drugs don't bleed. They don't die. They don't surrender. People do.

The war is on some college kid having fun on the weekend.

The war is against an entrepreneur who sees a demand/need and tries to find a way to supply it.

The war is against anyone who wants to be able to fully exercise rights that have been abridged for the sake of prohibition.

Obama has gone against everything he said he would do on the campaign trail with his approach to "the war on drugs".

Gotta love the knee-jerk shotgun approach some leaders have taken on this issue...

Wait, no.

It's a war on free enterprise in which the average joe selling dimebags becomes as untouchable as the cartel. In other words, the government can't reap anywhere close to the benefits they'd prefer.

It pisses them off, so they send people to jail/prison for it... because it's all they can do.

Obama has lied about everything except when he said his plan would make energy prices skyrocket, for that one time he wasn't lying.

Very true. On a side note my brother, a MP at the time(2002-2003), was stationed at Gitmo for a year. He has some stories about that place and the people imprisoned there.

He said his administration would not police medicinal marijuana, yet they've already performed more raids than the Bush administration had in 8 years.

Here's a place where liberals should definitely have an edge - reducing the "war" on drugs yet this administration ramps it up. Seems the default position is to look for ways for govt agencies to control more aspects of citizen's lives regardless of topic.
