OBC Taps Nunez As Starter and Benches Orth

nunez can run but he cant really throw. They need anything they can get at this point. Their WR unit is brutal outside of cooper. One of the bottom 2 or 3 in the SEC.

Their offense is going to look pitiful when they come to Neyland. Who knows who will be starting at QB by then.

Man, it's going to be nice to live in a world where the Gamecocks are SEC East bottomfeeders again.

Man I'm so confused. First off, who beats the old ball coach three years in a row? I mean, the guy is the one who invented and perfected using multiple qb's.... And yet....it's not working. You can hear it in his pressers, they are depressing. I hate to see him go out like this but this is about as bad as it gets imo.

Off the top of my head:

Bobby Bowden
Bobby Pertrino
Urban Meyer (beat him 4 times in a row)
Gene Chizik (well, he beat him 3 times in 2 years)
Les Miles (beat him 3 times in a row over a 6 year period; SEC rotation was responsible for the gap)

(Terry Bowden only beat him twice in a row.)

(Fun side note: Vanderbilt's Bobby Johnson beat him two years in a row. Also - lifetime - he's 7-6 against Clemson and 5-5 against Florida.)

Also, what are you talking about? He seems to have pretty much been a "find one good QB for the system and stick with him" kind of guy, looking at the stats.

Glad to know people do threepeat against him. Didn't realize that.

I think you know the other part isn't debatable. It's common knowledge and history.

He's definitely going to tarnish his legacy the longer he sticks around. I think part of his problem is that he doesn't put as much thought into recruiting like he did at Florida.

Spurrier's recruiting is severely lacking. It shows in a move like this. There were talks before the season of moving Nunez around in WR/HBack roles (his throwing talent is extremely raw and limited, even worse than J. Jennings tbh) and now he's the starter at QB.

I think the OBC needs to walk away after this season. It's in his best interest and the best interest of the Gamecocks.

I watched some of the last last presser. It was a much more positive and upbeat one... man I'm telling you guys, I don't now how, I just know I don't trust it... not one bit. This man is playing head games. That is so like him. I do NOT see Spurrier going out like this. All he has to do is get a win over someone like UT and the script will flip for him.

Nunez is the most talented QB on the team. It just amazes me that Spurrier has never been able to recruit a QB worth a crap.

Spurrier put himself in a bad situation. He's recruited to the fact that he's not going anywhere. He made a HUGE deal with the media, about them making a big deal about his age. If he leaves after this season, he's lied to all of his recruits, vindicated the media, and made himself look stupid. If you know Spurrier, he doesn't want any of the above.

That fact alone may keep him in the visor longer than he now wants to be.

Great breakdown and most likely accurate but never underestimate his ability to THE HELL WITH IT...last seen with the Redskins. :wink2: He knows his legacy won't be defined with the end. IF he gets certain that his team isn't turning it around, retiring and beer golf is on the playlist.

Good. The longer he coaches there, the trend will continue downward.

the older hes gotten the more talking he does and less coaching he does. Always taking shots at everybody and now hes getting what was coming for him. It started last season. They are a 5 win team max.
