i got back from Pittsburgh yesterday.

i was at the game Monday night. it was as miserable as it looked on TV.

on to observations:
1. Steeler fans are as dumb as any fan base i've ever personally been exposed to. while my allegiance to the Steelers will never waiver, the fans in the stands should be required to take a football iq test before being allowed to speak in public.
2. the steeler defense is overrated, and it has been all season. don't give them turnovers, you'll get yards.
3. having said that i honestly have come to conclusion they playe better as a unit w/out TP.
4. Ben R. is the 3rd best qb in the league right now. he is doing more with less, up front, than anyone else in the NFL. the offensive line should be giving him their game checks for hte past two weeks.
5. Hines Ward is the most underrated WR. he's not fast. he's not going out run anyone, but he gets the "most physical WR in the league" tag because it's true.
6. James Harrison>Joey Porter.
7. Aaron Smith is the epitomy of Steeler football.
8. Escelators in Heinz Feild are awesome.
9. Mike Tomlin's sideline presence is respectable considering his age and "newness" to one of hte most storied NFL franchises in history. His best decision so far was one of his first: retaining Dick Lebeau.
10. the field was as bad as you think it was. i was about 30 yards way from the sidelins and the punt that plugged in the feild was basically right in front of me. when the teams got up to the line of scrimmage, their feet disappeared in to the muck. it truly was the most brutal field conditions i've ever seen. the kicking game was completely taken out of play.
11. the grounds crew at half time put on an admirable performance by painting lines and hash marks for the entire feild in less than 15 minutes. so impressed was the crowd, that they actually cheered the guy that was running up and down the feild painting the stripes until he fell over after completing the line at the 35 from exhaustion. the guy that took over had no heart, and the crowd promptly booed him.
12. I'm just glad i didn't have to pay for the tickets.

Go Steelers.

How long before they get field turf?
word is next year. Pitt is really complaining about the field conditions.......makes it very difficult to recruit speed if they're going to be playing in mud half the time.

plus i figure they wasted somewhere around a quarter to a half a million in re-sodding that feild in less than 24 hours......and the result was embarassing.

Hines Ward is a perfect example of how football should be played.

When he knocked out Ed Reed a couple of weeks ago, I almost fell out of my chair.

I love the way he plays.

How about Timmons stomping on Ricky WIlliams. I bet Williams sold him a bag that was a gram too low.

i didn't see it while i was there, but saw the replay on ESPN........there's a part of me that doesn't think that was an accident.

I agree, it is clear to me he looks over a Ricky and then swings his leg way out in an attempt to stomp him which is what he did. I honestly cannot believe a bigger deal is not made of this.

you don't have to read it.

it's a little bit difficult to imitate someone's style when these are my opinions?

though i do enjoy Hat's little diatribes and his style of doing so. and honestly, can anyone really imitate Hat?

and it's not like a numerical lists are an original idea.......

Ben. he's proven it on the biggest stages. Romo bobbled a fg snap.

it's not even close.

what was the crowd's reaction to no "Star Spangled Banner" before the game? I listened to the Westwood One radio broadcast and Boomer went mildly apoplectic (and stayed that way the rest of the night).

they never played it at all. the NFL and ESPN suits were so concerned about starting the game that the National Anthem was never performed.

I'd give it to big ben as well but he was piss poor in the Super Bowl. God awful if you will. He was a product of the Steelers system that year. Let's see him do it again.
