It appears these self-imposed penalties will not carry over to the new staff, as the point was to sanction the violators. But, we cannot argue to the NCAA that we self-imposed a one-year ban if it turns into a six-month ban.

Please correct me if the penalties will carry over.

I want Coach Martin to add some quality players to the roster, but our self-imposed penalties, which were severe at the time, will be pretty meaningless to the NCAA if our new coach hits the road this month and comes back with a better roster than we would have had under Pearl.

I don't think we will get hit as hard now from the NCAA since we let Pearl go. If we had kept Pearl we would have been in big time trouble.

I still think we're gonna face some sanctions like maybe a few scholarships taken away and other minor things. But your right. With Pearl gone, I can't see how we'll be hit as hard. We'll still be hit hard, but not as hard.

Don't be so sure we will be relieved of tough sanctions to come. I honestly believe we hired this guy for the sole reason that he has dealt with serious situations before.

The sanction will not be sever. As noted, Martin is a minority coach. The NCAA is not going to strap him from the get go. They were after Pearl and now UT fired him. Hopefully the NCAA will go after the coaches and not the schools like it should be. I think they slap Kiffin too. The cheat and move has to stop.

Interesting twist...

Did Jesse Jackson get to them too?

I agree with the fact that the sanctions should go with the coach in the Kiffin case. But, some sanctions will fall on the university because the university gave pearl the job. It's kind of like an armed robbery. 2 people in the car and only one goes in and does the crime we both get the same charges. Sucks but that is the way it is.

The hammer will follow the violators. I hope there is a mushroom cloud over Kiffin, even though he is not nearly as large of a cheater as Ed O. Yaw yaw is just the best at cheating and like Cal he gets away with everything.
