What will we run? We're weak at QB, so the Read-Option won't work this year just like it didn't last year. We're strong at WR, and RB.. But we might not have a QB to get it to the WR consistently.

Basically.. Will we see a Running game similar to 2009, or try to be efficient in both areas?

It all depends upon how rapidly a group of high school kids develop who have never had the opportunity to line up against collegiate level competition. Without the needed production from the freshmen our offense will be fairly easy to read and contain.

I'm not so sure about that. All 4 of our QBs will have another year under their belt running this offense. This will help with the timing of their throws and open up the playbook a little more. It will also help them make the read faster.

Do you realize we had one of the best rushing years we've had in a long time last season? I don't know why you said the read option didn't work last year?

Were gonna run the read option. That's what we saw last year, and that's what we'll see this year.

PS. The read option will work a lot better with Fergie slinging TDs to Pearson, North, and Malone. Boom.

ah, the read-option, just what I had hoped to hear in this thread.

How did that offense do for Auburn in the National Championship game? Oh yeah, that's right, it LOST to a drop back passer with Randy Sanders coaching.

Oh, and Nick Marshall is better than any of the 4 Tennessee QB we have, so I suspect we won't have even remotely their success.

So the offense was defending Winston and Co.?

We don't run Auburn's offense, anyway.

nick marshall is a converted DB now at RB who occasionally throws the ball and plays under the guidance of an offensive mastermind in the oldest of old-school power running option football schemes. the situations are not really comparable.

ps give the barn a better secondary and LBs and they continue to crush the noles just like they did in the first half.

1. Auburn was in the national championship game so that undermines the notion that their offensive scheme is somehow ineffective.

2. Although Auburn lost, their offense outscored and outgained Florida States offense in that game. However, Florida state scored on a kickoff return. But that doesn't help your point.

3. Tennessee and Auburn do not run the same offense.

Agree 100%. Don't understand why people think that 3 QBs, each talented in their own right, especially Fergie and Dobbs, won't be much better this year after a full offseason in the weight room, in the film room, in the program. I fully believe they will be. Dobbs and Fergie weren't Elite 11 QBs for no reason.

The REAL question mark on offense is the line, not one starter left????

I didn't relize that Randy Sanders was coaching defense. And what does a drop-back passer have to do with it?:eek:lol:

Wasn't Dobbs the 4th string QB up until the bama game?

So he got the least amount of snaps than any QB we had in practice and probably was not getting any snaps with the 1st string offense.

He basically had very little development work up to that point. He was still playing like a high school QB. And for a high school QB getting thrown into to SEC level play I don't think he did that bad.

As for our offense......tempo is one of the factor that hurt us. Among others but we could not speed up the game when we needed to because of the quality depth at the WR and RB position.

We kept having to slow the game down because you need at least 8 quality WRs to rotate.

Last Year : M. North, J. Croom, P.Howard, J.Smith, J.Carter, J. Johnson.

That was it. Young was hurt and did not come back into play until UK. And that was only because North was hurt.

This year we have all those same guys plus: J. Malone, V. Pearson, and V. Warton. The numbers are looking better.

At RB we had Neal and Lane. Pretty much it. This coming year we have Lane, Pickett, Young, Paulk, Hurd, Scott.

Much better. I believe we will see that we have much more control over the pace of the game on offense this year.

Another wild card is how the OL will play. If they don't open holes for Hurd, Lane, Scott & company they could have a tough year. If they do, watch out. It's anyone's guess now who the QB will be. If the OL blocks and new receivers develop, whoever wins the QB competition will be fine.
