Why was the read option installed into the offense if we do not have the players to run the read option? Kind of reminds me of the change Dooley made with the defense. Why didn't we stay and work with the players we had instead of going ahead with the read?

Also I thought Jones touted a high speed uptempo offense where is the uptempo offense at? Run up to the line and wait?

Not trying to bash Jones, serious questions for discussion so save your "your an idiot give him time", "you know nothing about football", comments for another thread.

That's Coach Jones' offensive scheme. That's what he does. He knows he doesn't have the players he needs to run it but through recruiting he will. He's laying the groundwork for the future and getting there is going to sting some...o.k., a lot.
GO VOLS!

Up tempo offense will never work in SEC. Defenses are too fast. d-lineman are too athletic. If we are going to run read option, put in a RUNNING qb. Doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not the head coach either. The only good things I can say about this coaching staff so far is we have won the games we are supposed to win and lost the games we are supposed to lose.

Part of the reason why we look so slow on offense getting plays off is Worley and Peterman last week are still green to the offense and are having trouble understanding the plays from the sideline and computing all the audibles. You have to realize for a football player, especially a qb, learning a whole new scheme is like learning a new language.

I really haven't questioned anything about this coaching staff until the fourth quarter when USA got within 7 and we got the ball back and threw the ball 3 times in a row for a three and out. We were having no success throwing the ball for one thing and this also ran less than a minute off the clock.

Don't believe me? Watch the next games on the schedule.

that is the staff's system they brought with them.

you can't determine in 15 days of spring ball that you don't have the personal to execute the system

so they were kind of stuck with what they had going into this season.

they could determine after the season, hey we need to go away from read option and go to a power T based on what we have. they could re-write their play book after signing day and implement in spring. That is not something you can do in the middle of a season though, IMO.

I am kind of torn on it I guess.

How much film did they watch of the players on the team? As hard as it was for the coaches to evaluate players in those 15 days wasn't it just as hard on the players to try and learn an entirely new system? I think it might be easier for these players to swap to the power T than it would be for the coaches. When was the last time any on this staff was involved with a power T type system?

I guess if you have your system you may as well start from day one.
