I said before this game I didn't trust this offense. The final score was much closer than it could have been...my question is this - is worley and this young online the problem or is it the offense we are running?

Before you give me too much flack, butch looked terrible AGAINST the vols when he was the coach of the Bearcats. I will admit I like a pro style offense and this just doesn't feel like TN football. I didn't like our lat OC either. Jim chaney had lots of weapons and at times put up a lot of points but I never felt it was a good system for us in the SEC.

I love Butch's recruiting and attention to detailed, I just do know if this offense wins in this conference.

I will hang up and listen...

Freshman outweighed by redshirt juniors and seniors - did you expect a win? OU's defensive dominance was expected. ArkSt's defense was more experienced and had the benefit of some SEC coaching. Our oline has tons of talent (minus depth) but those positions need time to learn how to see and deal with stunts and such. If you want miracles, go to church tomorrow.

The one area of our team that is woefully inadequate is the O line plain and simple! I don't know if it is experience or they are way too slow and being outplayed! Tonight 55 alone cost us at least 6 plays! He needs to sit a while! I was proud of the rest of the team realizing some mistakes were made but that was to be expected! GO VOLS!

Simple- Men vs Boys.. Men win in the trenches

I agree men will win in the trenches...but a good game plan with excellent talent could offset this! That's what an OC gets paid to do. He didn't tonight...that's all I got to say bout that.

I didn't expect to win but I still don't like the direction.

The O-Line is gonna be weak all year. They have to get better...quickly!!! Worley wont be able to handle this kind of a beating for long. Hell, nobody could. I thought Worley was a freakin warrior tonight. He earned some respect today from fans and teammates alike, I'm sure. I know he earned mine!!!

My biggest complaint about the offense so far, aside from the line of course, is that coach Jake keeps attempting the reverse. Ever since the UGA game last year he's fallen in love with it and it hasn't worked since. The only cool thing that came from a reverse was Josh Smith's hurdle.

And that is the problem. We couldn't sit him if we truly wanted to. We don't have the depth to replace him. We're simply too thin and inexperienced on the OL to handle the kinds of things that OU defense threw at us. That said, some situational play calling could have been better. Abandoning the run on 3rd and 2 inside the 5 after finally seeing success with the run is just baffling. If we handle that situation better, we should score 7 instead of throwing a pick six for the 14 point swing.

Yeah we didn't beat the #4 team. We must be heading in the wrong direction. We were 4-5 plays away from making the game very close or possibly winning.

So for all those who are complaining about the play calling, what would you have done differently? Especially in the first half when JW was either running for his life or chewing dirt.

Well, for one, I wouldn't keep passing the ball laterally.

Florida faired pretty well with the spread offense when CUM was there and it worked pretty well for auburn last year. The problem is that you have to have the players to fit the system which we do not have right now. I with you though, I miss the pro style offense.

Well, for one, I wouldn't keep passing the ball laterally.

Here's the problem with that:

Vertical routes take longer to develop and our oline was leaking like a sieve. The main reason the lateral passes were largely unsuccessful is that the OU DBs could sit on them knowing that we didn't have time to do much else.
