After perusing (looking at) quite a few web sites and reporters blogs and podcasts, I’m more confused than enlightened.
Some, like Basilio, are already at the “hair on fire 🔥“ stage saying that Coopers situation has shown just how little quality depth that we have on the oline. While others are saying it’s not ideal but it’s not something to panic about just yet.
Wondering where VolNation stands.

There are a few guys with upside who we really need to come along…Nichols, Karic, and Mincey. If those 3 come along, to go the remaining solid 4 of Campbell, Mays, Spraggins, and Crawford, we’ll be in good shape. We basically know what we have with Lane and Davis…2 guys who can play, but aren’t going to be stars.

We’ll know more after a couple of games.

We're replacing 2 seasoned vets, 1 being a top 10 pick. With that said, Mincey and Crawford have plenty of playing time under their belt. A little more worried about Lane and Karic or whoever else panning out

I feel like are of the concern is overblown, particularly once Cooper is back. Ollie Lane has played a lot of football for us, and has been very solid when he's been asked to play. Mincey and Crawford both had plenty of good moments last year. Campbell seems to be one of our best players on the line now. Spraggins is fantastic. Even Dayne Davis has been very solid when he's played. I think we have 4 OTs that can play. I think they'll be able to find at least 1 LG that can play while Cooper is out. Once Cooper gets back though, I think they'll be a really good unit.

Over the decades, I've learned the profound truth about not worrying about things over which you have no control. Just enjoy the ride this years team is able to provide. If a lineman goes down, it's time for another scholarship player to step up. Never know what a youngster will do if forced into action. They think differently and practice differently when they're a starter vs a backup. Yeah, I know the desire is for them to work like they're already starting, but anyone who's played the game knows there's something different when you know your on the field from the jump. This is kind of a transition year in my mind. Joe and Co are keeping the train on the tracks until Nico and the other talented youngsters mature. Gimme 8-9 wins this year and it's a successful season. Gimme 10 and we're likely not only turning the corner, but we're also making footsteps that UGA will start listening to.

We do need Cooper Mays back for the meat of the schedule. He's one of our most experienced and best OL and the center has such a key role in coordinating the other linemen. I think probably all of the reported trouble, if indeed there is any, is probably linked mostly to his absence, and if we get him back we'll be fine, or we'll improve as the new group gels.

Heupel will have them ready. Anyone know what Cooper's injury is? Heupel is always way too vague on updates...but I understand why, but very frustrating.

Only a guess, but based on everything I have heard and read, and putting the puzzle pieces together - it sounds like a hernia. I've had two of em, so that's how I'm basing my guess. If this is it, its a good issue to fix. Hernia's heal pretty darn well. 6 weeks. I have no idea when (or if) he had surgery since I'm just educated guessing......

Every year... there is a "concern" like this. It doesn't matter if it is a good year or bad year. That's because there is always a concern... for every program. Bama is getting all kinds of love but it could go real bad for them if they don't figure QB out. They get a talented Texas team in week 2. A little later they get a run of A&M, Arkansas, and UT. Then they get a bye week before playing LSU.

We have plenty of depth. We just lack high end talent. But the line will be fine. Not elite, but manageable

This is where I'm at. You can be a pretty good offensive line if you just get your fundamental technique, footwork, maintain your leverage, etc. and get a hat on a hat, the right hat on a hat. I have confidence Elarbee will get them there. (like that 2009 OL with the Sullins twins) There are a few DL guys in this league that are just too good to handle with the talent we have even playing with good technique. We'll just have to double team them, chip them with a TE or RB (may be an opportunity for the young big guys) and hope that's good enough. We have some young OL talent, maybe if they stay in the weight room and at the training table they can help late season, like when Georgia comes to town. :) GBO and VN Live in your hopes and not in your fears!

With Lane working first team center, that means Jackson Lampley, Addison Nichols, and Andrej Karic are working at left guard and that position when the depth chart comes out will be littered with “or’s”.

The result is that early this season, you will see multiple guys play left guard – even if Mays is back at center until that position sorts itself out. Frankly, they might platoon there all year like they did at left tackle a season ago.

Nichols will end up locking it down

You sure we watched the same guy? It was not pretty.
