Our offinsive line is a weak point for us. Not knocking them because they are young and inexperienced but, trying hard.
One thing I have noticed all year is that it takes too long for our backs to get to, and through the line of scrimmage.
This gives the opposing defense time to react and close the gaps.
Is there a sceme that will speed things up and give our RBs a better chance.
My thinking is speed will offset some of our weaknesses.

Is my thinking flawed?.

In many running plays the backs are supposed to delay for a split second in order for the seams or holes to open up. This is especially the case in any zone read running attack.

Our running backs are not great but I don't think Hurd is capable of much more right now until he matures from a full season of college football. Take a look at ou last night they ran the same running play as we did put when their rb got it he had much more room to run. Our line is our weak point and will get better towards the end of the year

OP I was thinking the same this last night. The RBs have to let the play of the line play out before hitting the hole. So here's my thoughts...the O-Line is very young right now and needs some work. That is the weakest point of this whole team.

Lane don't look bad and neither does Hurd. I think Hurd will get better. We have to remember Hurd was injured most of last year and is a true freshman. He will improve this season and the off season in the weight room again will do wonders for him.

The QB play was great...when protected. The receiving corps dropped a lot in which they should have caught. Some of the receivers didn't go up and fight for the ball which in a couple of instances stopped the drive and also resulted in turn overs.

The D looked sharp, but was on the field way too long.

those are my observations.

Hurd and Lane definitely showed more patience as the night wore on. Still say Blair is the only true , size wise, big time tackle on the roster. Losing Richmond is big.

I know they performed less than we expected against USU & ASU but for this game, they were out weighed by 50 lbs. a piece on the line.

Hard for a 299 lb. offensive linemen to move a 350 lbs. Defensive lineman.

Last time I saw that happen was when Stepanoski played center for Dallas & for the Titans and he held his own at a lower weight than the D-line.

When you're up against one of the best d lines in college football and you're on the road... And your center is too dumb and can
Only snap a ball when a guard slaps his ass, what do you think is going to
Happen.. Every snap
Was " are you ready Oklahoma, ok jump the snap now". Match that with a freshman running back and it's a dissaster. Hurd played lights out given the absolute bs that is
Our offensive line. Also Worley deserves the Medal of Honor for sitting through that bs all night. Our oline should be disgusted

Are you really so ****ing dumb you think he didn't know when to snap it? The center reads the defense and calls the protection. Just about every offence in the country the guard slaps the center to let him know there ready to go.

That works when your OL can get into blocks and sustain them. The delay makes a bad OL situation worse.

Whats even dumber is thinking an Oline of 18y\o s should dominate a Dline of seniors.

so what does everyone think will happen with the line ? Put Blair at LT and move Kerbyson back to RT ? Would it help to move Jackson to RG and switch Robertson to LG so the whole right side aren't freshmen ?

Some of you guys need to calm the *&$# down. He couldn't hear the snap count so the guard was looking to see when Worley was ready and would slap him on the leg. I does make it hard to draw a D off sides when the element of surprise is taken away and the QB cannot use a hard count to help.

I'm not freakin out or anything , we knew the o line was gonna have growing pains this season . I'm just concerned about Worleys health . He can't get beat up like that all season .

Oh, I'm with you on that note. The way he seems to have command of the offense we sure don't want to have him go out with an injury. I was mostly talking to the jackasses that were calling another poster stupid. You know, the ones that attack another's character when the don't agree with their post.

Hurd averaging a fuzz below 70 yards per game. On pace for 850 for the season.. Good for him.. Love to see him get 1000
