i'm very exited about all of the commitments that we are getting so far and do understand those that are freakin out over not having a "SOLID" qb commit yet but a qb can't get the ball to the great wr's if he does not have a great line. i was just wondering how the ol recruiting is going? these guys are just as important.

According to Rivals we have the 12th, 44th, and 53rd ranked OLs in the country already in the 2010 class.

All 3 stars. Kiffin has said they are not worried about ranks for OL, because they are recruiting smaller, faster guys than we are accustomed to. (Jose Jose not withstanding.)

Jose Jose was listed at 330, but he's been losing weight (was once 355). I guarantee he will never play if he shows up to UT at that weight.

I generally take star ratings with a grain of salt, but that's especially true for OLs. To me, that sounds like one of the toughest positions to evaluate. The coaches know what they're doing; I have no doubt about that.

Plus, there just aren't that many 4 star OL's. I think there are a handful of 4-star centers and maybe 10 4-star guards. There are a lot of 4-star OT's, though...which I find weird.

I guess what I am saying is that in any year where you have to sign a bunch of OL's, the rivals ranking necessarily takes a little bit of a hit.

I would argue that for the OL, the star rating system is the most useless out of all positions. This based on the fact that rarely do you have freshman OL starting. That it is a position that development and actual size growth and training are more important. All of which take place after ratings are given, and they are on campus. So like someone stated earlier, CLK is recruiting smaller, faster, lineman. All of which likely have a lower rating.

I actually do care about star ratings. They can tell you a lot in the aggregate. But they have limited utility in assessing offensive lineman.

Don't pay any attention to the OL star ratings. Fulton has won 2 OL camp MVPs and is still a 3star. It's a joke...

Who someone has offers from is more important than their star rating

What's most important is what our coaches think of the players. Nothing else really matters to me, especially when it comes to OL. I don't even put much stock into offer lists at that position.

Thanks, I know it ain't what everybody is interested in, but ya can't throw the ball to the wideouts if yer on yer a**.

It's the position I'm most interested in right now. We are going to land some good ones I think. I'm very interested in seeing how it unfolds and if we seriously go after guys like Zach Tait and Cameron Clemmons.

We are in it for a ton of big time OL. I honestly think we will sign 4 more in this class...

That wouldn't surprise me and would be excellent IMO. We really need as many as we can get. I could see us potentially getting 5 if they are the right 5. Two JuCo guys is a possibility though I think we get maybe 1.

They are looking at a ton of JUCO guys that no one knows about yet. It just seems like they are making it a really big priority to get some more guys who can help out in 2010. We have to get some guys who can play now...

5 more wouldn't surprise me either...

Yeah, I know of two JuCo OL we are seriously looking at and that's it. Wouldn't surprise me if there were others.

If you have OL, backes and receivers, the QBs will come. I really would love to get one of the big tackles to commit early so he can help flip one of these top QBs.

Here's a rundown of 5 that I know of:

Chuckie Curry- 6-6, 310, runs a 4.8. very impressive offer list (UT, Bama, Ole Miss, etc.). UT has offered and he says the Vols are his leader. will enroll in January. I want Curry the most out of all these guys...

John Cullen- 6-6, 285, runs a 4.9. UT has offered and is his #2, trailing Utah for his services. will enroll in January...

Demarkus Underwood- 6-5, 310. teammate of John Brown. UT has not offered yet. loves UT. he is a Vol lock if we want him. will enroll in January...

Charles Wiley- 6-6, 305, runs a 5.1. played at Knox Fulton. "bleeds Orange and White". he had a UT offer on the table if could graduate this past spring. he is a Vol lock if we want him. “I wouldn’t even have to breathe before I commit to them,” laughed Wiley. “Getting an offer from UT would be a dream come true.” will enroll in January.

Roszell Gayden- on Scout, he is the highest rated of all these guys. UT has not offered yet but is recruiting him. he's interested but I dunno if UT would be his favorite if offered. will enroll in January...

There are some more JUCO guys that we should be hearing from very shortly. The best thing about these JUCO OL is that they are all planning to start school in January. Practicing with the team in the Spring is a huge plus...
