So I thought I would go ahead and get this thing rolling since the tourney is right around the corner. The Vols are right there for our first ever one seed as long as we finish strong down the stretch. On Bracketmatrix we sit as the last one seed as of 2/7.

Here are the games that we should keep an eye on this week, the bolded are who we should want to win IMO.

2/10
Baylor @ Houston

2/11
Auburn @ Vandy
UF @ MSU
Pudue @ UM
ISU @ UCF
Depaul
@ Marquette
Bama @ Texas
Indiana
@ Michigan State
UGA @ Texas A&M

2/12
St Johns @ Villanova
California
@ Duke

2/15
Arky @ Texas A&M
Wisconsin @ Purdue
Houston @ Zona
Auburn @ Bama
Stanford
@ Duke
Cincinnati @ ISU
South Carolina @ UF

You left out the most important game on 2-11
Tennessee @ Kentucky !
I'm ready for us to beat Kensucky like a red-headed stepchild!
2-15 We also have a game Vanderbilt @ Tennessee. Ready for some revenge there, too.

Does it matter what anyone but Joe Lunardi thinks? After all, we will hear his name 500 times between now and tourney time. Only Joe knows.
Joe has zero influence of what the Selection Committee does. However, he is one of the most well-read individuals when it comes to the amount of research and knowledge he has about the selection process and bracketing principles the committee utilizes. He’s done a great job carving out a niche for himself in this realm.

True, but the announcers and halftime commentators just blow it up as if he is the Know All and mention it too many times. Even my wife will ask if there is an Over/Under on how many times we will hear about Joe Lunardi during a game.

Well, he is the most noted prognosticator on the Tournament until the Selection Committee is able to officially speak on Selection Sunday. That being said, the Committee will release its current Top 16 seeds this Saturday on CBS.

I felt like 25-6 (12-6) would have us right there for a 1 seed, that looks to be spot on, needed to close 6-2 in our final 8 games and got the win at Oklahoma, now we’re at 5-2. Winning at Kentucky would really increase the odds of being able to hit that mark, not a must win but feels like a huge one, if we can win that and then come home for a revenge game against Vandy and get a win we get our midweek bye and a chance to catch our legs for the home stretch and sitting in as good of a spot as possible.

Yeah, @UK isn't a must-win, necessarily, but we have to take two of four vs UK, Bama, Ole Miss, and A&M. Only one of those is at home (Bama), so we've got to steal at least one of these road games, and then hold serve. Like you, 6 losses is what I figured as our floor for a shot at a 1-seed. 7 losses has us on the 2 line, which is fine. The game @Vanderbilt may prove to be costly.

Based on the last few years, I have no doubt that Lunardi has a source from the committee team. He has been adamant about some things that became true.

Jerry Palm is one that has no clue.

I'll probably be repeating this story on my deathbed, but when we got a 3 seed for the 2022 NCAAT despite having a resume that deserved better, all Joe could say was that Tennessee being higher was "never part of the conversation." Basically, facts on paper be damned—the committee just wants something different. That does make me believe he has an inside source, to your point.

Need Duke to lose a game. Bama and Florida will run
in to the SEC wall somewhere along the line.

For sure. Texas tonight in Moody is Alabama's only unranked opponent the rest of the way. Three losses over these final eight likely gets them a well-deserved one seed, more and they'll fall to a two.

Purdue lost, which is nice. Florida will still have passed us with their win @ MS State and prob Houston as well winning against Baylor yesterday

I don’t think Houston passed us. Right now I believe we are the top 2 seed
My comment was worded poorly. I didn’t mean to say that Houston passed us last night by beating Baylor. Just that our loss tonight, given them beating Baylor, made it so they passed us. I could be wrong about that even though
