Official Falcon Raven thread

Falcons have to do a better job of getting something out of the running game. Just getting Michael Turner 3 ypc opens up their offense.

I've never paid much attention to him, but Flacco just isn't impressing me.

He's definitely looked better than he has so far tonight, but pressure will get those feet to movin every time.

Jason Snelling just trucked a DB. That was some serious YAC on that TD.

There's not a team I despise more than the Ravens. The Ravens intentionally trying to break CJ in two did it for me.

Dude is underwhelming.

Kordell said the Ravens are the lone team in the NFL with no weaknesses and I nearly fell out of my chair.

They definitely are not very dynamic trying to get the ball downfield. The Falcons defense is just not this good.

Wouldn't normally cheer for the Falcons but don't like the Ravens either and want them to lose. Helps the Titans. Go Falcons!

...i don't remember it happening that way

Johnson got hurt on his long 30 yard run near the sideline i believe; i think a helmet from a diving, missed player might have hit the ankle....but I don't seem to recall a massive/big injury/dirty hit at all

Vol4eva is right. I remember it too.

Between rushing and receiving, Chris Johnson had 100 yards in the first half of the playoff game against the Ravens. Two guys were tackling him, one low and one high. They kept bending him in half after the play was over and the refs were blowing their whistles. They did it for at least five extra seconds. It injured Chris Johnson and he missed the rest of the game.

I don't think it's the unis as much as it is the clash with the red helmets. Thank goodness they are throwbacks and it's a one time deal.

Yeah. Just the combination of red helmet, black jersey and white pants. Not a good look. Plus, like you said, they are throw back. The helmet has flat paint and the jersey and pants are old school. The Falcons current jerseys don't look bad. Just the ones they are wearing tonight.

It was after a play and there were several Ravens on his back, with Ed Reed in front trying to snap him in two. Dave Stewart came over and shoved Reed off of him and I believe he got a personal foul penalty. I'm not sure where CJ hurt his ankle, but what Reed was doing was extremely dangerous. A ton of pressure was being put on CJs lower back. I remember it vividly.....

Actually I think the injury happened here, at 1:17-1:18 ish

YouTube - 2008/09 NFL Playoff Hightlights

there was alot of talk about it being something that was pestering earlier, then was seemingly not a big deal when he left the field in the first half, and then he didn't come back

I remember mainly that it was the announcers were surprised he wasn't coming back in because he didn't get hurt on a play/ have to be helped off the field; they and everyone else were confused when White kept staying in, then the cameras caugh Johnson on the sideline (in street clothes maybe? maybe still in pads?) with noone knowing what had happened/why he wasn't coming back in

watch the youtube clip at 1:17-1:18; I'm pretty sure that was where it happened right there.

Remember now that i think about it again some write-up on he kept playing but eventually took himself out due to how much it was hurting/bothering him (so i was wrong about it on the 30 yard run; that was just the run he took himself out on)

I didn't see it. Too quick.

If you google "Ravens Chris Johnson" though, the first two links that come up...

Did the Ravens’ Defense ‘Take Out’ Tennessee’s Chris Johnson?

Did Ravens Intentionally Try to Take Out Titans' Chris Johnson?

I personally thought they tried to injure him. CJ was tearing through them with 100 yards in the first half. Titans did nothing in the second half without him.

Halftime thoughts:

Ravens should do more misdirection to loosen up the Falcons D.

Matt Ryan is as sharp as I've seen him.

Falcons D-Line is becoming what I've hoped for a long time.
