Official Jon Gruden Thread VII

I was told today by a source in knoxville that is close to a player that there was a team only meeting last night in which DD future was announced and John Gruden was in attendence.. and per that source it was announced that he would be the new HC

LMFAO worst first post in history!! Troll much? OMG I can't stop laughing!!

Its stuff like this from the "Cliff Notes" thread that drives me crazy, not even realistically legitimate information

1. If this were the case we would have heard about it, NO WAY was anything announced to the players other than Dooley saying "Doesn't look like I am going to be back here next year, chances are slim" in a team meeting on Monday.

2. There is no effing way Jon Gruden would be in attendance in a team meeting before he is even announced as the coach. Thats just too far out there.

Sorry for cross posting from Cliff Notes, just wanted to point out that just because something is posted there doesn't mean it is actual information. Use your heads people.

Just the same kind of ridiculous stuff we are making fun of Arkansas fans for saying. Guess what??? Every fanbase has seriously ignorant people in them looking to get some attention!

So, give us an explanation surrounding this photo.

Alrighty. Another UT student tweeted the picture. Back before they made their account private (probably due to the hits it was getting), when you clicked the link I posted, it went to their account.

A friend of mine has since told me it is a picture of whom the photo taker thought was Gruden over Homecoming weekend.

Ok. While I do not know, and frankly do not really care if JG was in Knoxville today, but.....

In one afternoon,

- somebody said that Hart was playing golf with Lamonte

- several people have claimed to have seen Gruden on campus (and 2 people that I know who work at UT have said that everybody on campus is talking about it)

- somebody has claimed that the Grudens were visiting Webb

- Hubbs finally committed to Dooley being officially gone

- Rucker pulled the sneaky backtrack after somebody called him out on twitter

All of this coincidentally occurred the day after several people in this thread heard that the deal was done?

gain, I could (although I wouldn't) dismiss each of these pretty easily, but all of these under these circumstances?

....and Basilio opened his lines up to people that believed Gruden was coming. Talked about it a lot today. Departure from last few days.

The guy left out a few things.....Heard from (oink) a guy (oink, oink).......

One thing I noticed today when someone said that Gruden had been spotted...the conversation in this thread never really took it seriously and really went right past it. I was proud of that considering WE are supposed to be the flakes.

True post. Some are exuberant but there a lot is smoke on the Gruden line. High emotions. Some handling it better than others.

Jimmy "I have no sources anymore" Hyams just said that he was told Gruden did discuss the job with UT but he wanted a 10 yr guarantee/$5 million per and $4 million for his assistants. Hyams then said "and Tennessee isn't going to pay that kind of money".

I don't know if he was told that or it's his assumption.

That was what I heard the last time Gruden was approached.

Maybe so, and no one wants to believe as much as I. I am fairly confident this gets done, but to assume he is hired and on campus and at Webb and in the locker room with the team is just the silliest of silly.

Stuff like this has been driving you crazy since Gruden I. We know. Oh well, one step closer to Gruden VIII. BTW, how many childsplay movies are there. That may give us a clue as to what Gruden thread it will actually happen in.

Right.

I don't necessarily believe any of it outright, but I think all of this chatter combined with the comments by the NFL folks (who, 6 months ago would all have laughed at the idea of JG being a college coach), really illustrates how heated this is getting.

I mean seriously. Anybody who does not find it interesting that Chris Mortensen mentioned it, even in passing, is being somewhat obtuse on the matter.

I mean many of those that post here are being honest, at least they believe what they are saying. I am confident of that. Stuff like that garbage is what gives those that troll us their ammunition. Hell I want to troll it and I am a Grudenite from way back lol.

No doubt, I believe Gruden will be our next coach. But no way he was in knoxville today and DOUBLE NO WAY he was in any team meeting. Shold be taken out of cliff notes,IMHO!! That is absurd and looks like a grudeville comment. Oh well every fan base has them and their share of trolls as well. GO VOLS GET GRUDEN!!!

I agree to a point but Gruden to Tennessee isn't no where as ridiculous to Arkansas. As repetitive and cliche as it is, Gruden has many ties to Tennessee and absolutely none to Arkansas. If he was going back to college and chose Arkansas over UT, Cindy would go Lorana Bobbitt on him. Even Mort said the UT job would have his attention and the Arkansas job for Gruden is laughable.

Mortensen wouldn't have opened his mouth today about Jon Gruden if he had in fact turned us down and declined the deal. All the silent talk for me only means he is either in talks in a very positive way, or is waiting on the pieces to align (ala the end of MNF, Dooley being fired) JMO

Exactly was my first thought when I read it.

Pretty sure Mortenson's son played for Ark. and he still thought it was ridiculous.

Right, at this point there are just as many irrational people saying he won't come here as saying he will.
