Who wouldn't want to be the coach that brings the Tennessee Vols from a point in which they are bordering obscurity back to the top? Because, in my eyes, that's what a Gruden hire would mean. Perhaps I'm overconfident, and I in no way expect that the first year or two, but for someone with his personality, it's a new challenge that he could easily take on and at which he could succeed. We'll see how it goes, but here's hoping.

That's a good point... his (Gruden's), motivation. I would love to think that he would be interested in doing such a job, and I would be thrilled if he said as much.. but I am not hopeful of that.

You miss my point. The stability I am talking about is KNOWING that he will be here for a long time. I am sure he could do a bang up recruiting job just like the other pro coach we tried. I guess I am concerned that the siren's song would come from somewhere in an NFL city and we'd be back to square 1.

If we were to actually hire the guy, I would hope we pay him waaaaaaay more than Saban because that is what it will take to keep him here. He AND his assistants.

And I reeeeeeally hope that Tressel rumor is just a rumor. Big 10<SEC.

We can negotiate a contract to lock him up, all of the contracts that have been rumored are all 6+ year deals I think. Alot of buzz that he wants a long term contract. If he wants to bolt for the NFL, he can wait till the end of this season and take a job.

Gruden may very well end up at Tennessee. If he does I will support him and the team. All I am saying that there are better coach`s than Gruden.

Not that we can get. Are there more with college experience yes but a lot of people think Gruden would convert well into the college game. He will be the most recognizable coach in college football.

Possibly, but nobody can take us back to relevance/prominence quicker. We've tried the "process" and it didn't turn out so great.

I see the 'Blue Law' was repealed for today in celebration of the Dooley firing. Some folks are obviously taking full advantage.

I would rather have Petersen or Patterson. They both are proven college head coach`s. Gruden is not.

This is not the time to try to pull a coach from another program. This is the time for a huge hire. We don't have time for coordinators to develop their "skills". We need to start winning immediately to keep the Piggy bank from going dry.
