So the booster's are controlling the money, wow I didn't know the talks had gotten that far with Gruden, all the threads I saw not sure whats real and what wasn't so with the funds not being returned there's still a chance....wow

The lazy way Hart started the "search". The weird response from Gruden on Mike and Mike. A deal that had been being worked on for weeks falling thru in the midnight hour over...no one knows. Now all of a sudden info being released on who we are trying to talk to after our AD had it all on lock down. It all comes full circle for me....back to Gruden. Yeah, I'm sure part of it is wishful thinking on my end but some of it I believe to be deductive reasoning too.

The question for UT is whether it wants to even the playing field with Alabama. There is only one coaching hire that does that immediately.

Every other coach on here (whether it be Strong, Fisher, etc.) falls short of Saban. Gruden would immediately be in the same stratosphere.

We all know that, and that is why it is so hard for us to let go.

Carter also has stated several times that the boosters were not able to cash the check they were writting...who in here believes that????

Not an attack on Bcarter at all... he is solid IMO, but he has been clear he is standing with the AD... that is fine with me and others as well... As for me, my money has always been on the $$$$ people. Also what Slice said money was donated and held in an escrow account to pay Gruden but not returned???

I am begining to wonder if we may still have a shot at this????

This isn't over yet, not by a long shot! The boosters have had PLENTY of involvement, now it's time to let the AD do there jobs. I believe the AD capable and think they will make the best decision for UT's future! Keep the faith alive!!!

I think we have a butthurt AD who was wanting to bring back Dools for another year. He got mad when $$$$ did what he should have done ( go after the best you can get) then did something himself to screw the deal up with Gruden. Still hoping that someone puts Hart in his place and patches up things with Gruden.

If, by Friday, we don't see someone at the podium wearing an orange tie, I imagine the Gruden speculation will be back to where it was overnight Thursday.

What is weird is that the AD is saying we are talking to these people, and there are releases from various sources that this is absolutely not true. Of course, this may be all part of the process...

That is also my thoughts.... if we want to compete in the SEC we have to have more that a real good coaches... we need a GREAT one

Nothing would please me more Coasty, not everyone has the same source. Bcarter put his job on the line with his info, my info lines up with his. I still can't think all the info did not have truth in it.

That's the thing, does UT want to play big time ball or not? I honestly think they are perfectly happy with 8 win seasons and losses to 'bama, fl, etc.

The money not being returned from escrow is in line with what I stated earlier from my friend (2 weeks ago) and (secured). Thank You!!!

As I stated earlier this morning:

New member. I post on here occasionally. I am a UT Grad '91. Love my school and my football program. I have relocated to Atlanta for my career but am a season ticket holder. I was even in the desert for the National Championship game. I also have a very very close friend employed by the University, will keep position nameless. I have a problem with how everything has shaken out. I was informed by my close friend 2 weeks ago that our coach was secured. Imagine my happiness when he clued me to this. With all the info and source statements and major media press statements, it counters everything that i was told. I contact my friend yesterday and he says, "I really have no idea what is going on here, AD locking everyone out and getting conflicting information from high ups in this situation". I ask him if his statement a couple of weeks ago about us securing our new coach was still good? He tells me to "be patient and let this all work itself out, other factors must be allowed to take place before we can officially annouce our coach, that is all I can say, job security". I trust my friend, hell he was my best man at my wedding. So say what you want folks, but I think we have been given false information throughout this process to protect the parties and their situations. My friend has never been unreliable in the 30+ years we have known each other. As to who this coach is? He has never come out and given me the name, but you do your own math. I choose to believe its the coach I want, but who really knows. As a note, when i asked him about all the reports about this coach and his agents comments and our schools comments, he only stated that "has an official announcement from either party involved been released? or have these been reports, sources or agents (attorney) making these. Not trying to start a coup, just wanting my Vol family to try to stand fast. It Is GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL!!!!

The OG's, along with all the information they were giving, were telling us one other thing... Be patient. Funny thing is, we were not patient, demanded to know right now and were finally ***** slapped with a coordinated tidal wave of bad news... We then turned on the OG's and are now just getting over the bloodbath. I do not know Boro-vol. He doesn't know me. But the dude has been level headed through all of this and I believe him when he says that this doesn't make any sense to him. Why do I believe him?

Because it doesn't make any sense to me either.

I think Macgruder's theory is very close to accurate. He has just found a way to put what is happening into words. I think we were told way back, probably by Mr. Gruden himself that he wanted this kept quiet until his stint with MNF was over for this season. Until then, he will not budge, announce or deny.

I have fewer than 10 posts. I don't live or die by this message board because I have better things to do. I'm embarrassed at the way people appeared out of nowhere and turned on those that were giving us hope and entertainment the past couple of months. I understand the emotions but really... The nastiness got out of hand. Until a new coach is named officially, I am one that will believe what the OG's were saying all along. We still need to be patient.

I am not discrediting Bcarter at all.... I understand the risk he took and is taking and I am completely greatful. He is a solid poster!

The fact that he did put his job on the line with his information about Gruden, and knowing that the Ad wants the Gruden deal dead...says a mouthful to me.

I do not Blame Bcarter or discredit him at all...but what I am saying is he has changed to Now saying the Boosters wrote a check they could not cash... I DOUBT THAT IS THE CASE...

Somthing else MacGruder didn't mention in his thesis that I think bears repeating...the idea that Gruden did not want it to appear like negotiations had started while Dooley was still coach, out of respect for Dooley. I think Gruden definitely wants some distance between the "fire" and the "hire", if he is indeed still onboard.

If this is indeed the greatest smokescreen in the history of organized sports, it sure as hell is working like a charm. No one is looking at Gruden in connection with this job any more. Perhaps that's what they wanted....I hope that's the case.

Exactly. Also, listen to anytime UT is brought up in any interviews and then compare to Mike and Mike. I'm not going to be thrown off the trail that easy! After all look at my avatar!
