Same here dude! I'm not 100% off the Grutrain and hoping it can still happen but no where near as positive as I was. To many inconsistencies and unknowns to say its totally dead.

I am right there my friend... and some times I am grasping for staws to keep it alive and sometimes I am settled it is over, and sometimes I just say WTF

Sadly, and I know it won't come off as anything but unflattering, I'm promoting to stop listening to the OGs. The main "thesis", if you will, of my whole thread is that the story is too big, and got too hot, that you seriously can't trust anyone at this point (I guess that includes myself).

Even the people with similar mindsets as my own, regarding Gruden, I see rushing back for any/every word that the OGs will say, which again without smearing them are often vague and need multiple postings to even get a true sense of, when in reality - it's reached the point that what they're suggesting is no longer believable. We can either believe (most) of them and that Gruden was the guy from the start, and things went up to the point that he was nearly signed, but something killed it - (yet still we're being strung along with a tiny amount of hope without any substantial reason as to why other than, again, vague, remarks about battles between nameless AD members, boosters, and Hart)....

Or, you can believe the theory that a few others and myself share that this was the plan all along (and, initially what I believed several of the OGs to believe as well). I don't want to take credit for it, as it's not self-promoting. This is obviously a new-account, and will disappear if this hire doesn't happen. But, I want people who come on these forums to look for "inside" information to do just that - look "inside" if you will - your own rationality, your own thoughts to the media we turn to when we often know they're simply money-puppets for the people that pay them. I feel like some theories I've worked over the last couple of days, mixed with some theories of a few other solid posters have painted a pretty decent narrative of the most likely way this situation has gone, and will go, assuming Gruden is a possibility.

To me, it's much more believable than last-minute squabbles between millionaires over pennies in assistant-staff salaries, control issues in a division that has Nick Saban and Les Miles in pack, or a guy that just figured out 3 days ago that the college game may be too much for him, as he polishes his Super Bowl ring and laughs at the NFL offers he's rejected since 2008.

Again, I may come off as self-serving, but I'm just a Grudenite. I wasn't even an account a week ago. I just want to push my theory, that I believe is sound, unto other folks who still believe in the same thing is me - but who might be clouded up in all the smokescreening and hooplah that has come out, directly for that reason, over the last two days.

And actually, thank you Coasty, for even pulling that card on me. I didn't make my initial post to garner any real kind of attention, rather just make a blanket statement of the last 5-6 posts I've made in these Gruden threads, but since you've mentioned it, and the feedback I've gotten, it has gotten to my head a little. I am human, and I will definitely try to tone that back. Like I said, I'm only after the truth in all this - no heroism, no "I told you so's", no "your sources were wrong!", just an opportunity to cut through some of the BS and try to guess to what's really happening.

I read the OP in your thread. It's definitely a theory and I caught myself enjoying the analogies and sarcasm, when applied. And shook my head up and down in agreement at times...but again, its theory based on the process of elimination, which defines science.

I'm very open minded to it all.

But I'll also say this. I walked into my bar last night and my employee at the door pulled me aside and told me there was a rumor around town that my bar is for sale...and he was asking with concern. I laughed and said to him, "where do people come up with this chit?" Shook my head and said, "no, Clell. I've never even thought about it." But If someone walked up to me and offered me a ton of money for it...I'd sell it in a heartbeat.

So...both sides of the card are exposed and I'll be open to either one. I'm not convinced he's coming, but there's no doubt in my mind he could.

The OG's, along with all the information they were giving, were telling us one other thing... Be patient. Funny thing is, we were not patient, demanded to know right now and were finally ***** slapped with a coordinated tidal wave of bad news... We then turned on the OG's and are now just getting over the bloodbath. I do not know Boro-vol. He doesn't know me. But the dude has been level headed through all of this and I believe him when he says that this doesn't make any sense to him. Why do I believe him?

Because it doesn't make any sense to me either.

I think Macgruder's theory is very close to accurate. He has just found a way to put what is happening into words. I think we were told way back, probably by Mr. Gruden himself that he wanted this kept quiet until his stint with MNF was over for this season. Until then, he will not budge, announce or deny.

I have fewer than 10 posts. I don't live or die by this message board because I have better things to do. I'm embarrassed at the way people appeared out of nowhere and turned on those that were giving us hope and entertainment the past couple of months. I understand the emotions but really... The nastiness got out of hand. Until a new coach is named officially, I am one that will believe what the OG's were saying all along. We still need to be patient.

Here are a few items of the top of my head that make me think this still could happen.

1) Jay Graham told recruits we're looking to get JG

2) When JG was ask Directly by Mike n Mike he dodged the question. He had the opportunity to shut it down right then but didn't want to look like a liar.

3) From all reports I've seen show every candidate so far deny rumors we have met with them for a interview.

Because of all the conflicting reports even on the new coaches they are supposively interviewing I am about back to 40-50% as this still being possible with Gruden

That puzzles me too. I am not sure Hart has interviewed anyone. Gundy was supposedly interviewed and his AD said UT had not contacted him for permission. Strong has emphatically denied he spoke to UT and was supposedly hosting recruits this weekend.

Good things come to those who wait!!! Be patient Grudenites. It was just a week ago tomorrow that our governor distanced himself from the hire and money. There is only one reason for him doing this. It will be a big $$$ coach and his family will be linked to the hire.

I just think the way the local media started "confirming" its dead, not happening, he wasnt even offered blah blah blah...then Grudens agent publicly comes out and says we are in dream land, WTF?! Why all of a sudden? Why that day? These rumors have been hot n heavy for months and when there's new rumors it may be a done deal and a 3pm PC, then everyone goes in to deny deny deny?! It just doesn't make sense other than there were to many leaks and it was supposed to be hush hush and the AD let to much info out and it pissed Gruden off. Now they are on lockdown and I still believe any pay owed to Gruden by Tampa and him not wanting to screw MNF has a lot to do with it as well.

With all the rumors of Gruden coming to Tennessee could it be it was the wrong football team? The rumors starting to pick up now is based on Monte Kiffin leaving USC after the bowl game and chance he might land as the Titans new DC next year. With this the Titans just fired Palmer and picked up veteran coach Tom Moore to be offensive assistant. This sounds like the rumors of the Vols and Gruden might actually land in Nashville with the Titans.

Thank you for reading it and considering it Jake. I respect you, quite a lot, and honestly (even if it's minor) you even considering what I posted as a slight possibility makes me feel not quite-the-ass-I-felt right before I hit the submit button when I initially posted it.

I was fully expecting to get laughed off of the forums due to the craziness.

Again, I'm not trying to go against the grain here just to go against the grain, rather just provide a cumulative scenario for folks who still think this is happening but believe there's more to it than back-room handshakes and counter-offers to try and squeeze a few more dollars out. It may be that simple, but I just don't think it is.

I can agree with some of this but the leaks didn't come from the AD side. This came from the boosters.
