UPDATE: The third candidate which is the top of Tennessee's is North Carolina's Larry Fedora.

"Tennessee's search for a head coach continues today in New York City as multiple sources have confirmed to VolQuest.com that North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora is interviewing sometime today with athletics director Dave Hart and other members of UT's travel party in New York," Brent Hubbs and John Brice reported.

"All signs point to Fedora, Strong and Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy as the three finalists for the job in a search that Tennessee would like to have done by Thursday."

VolQuest.com echoed the sentiments made earlier by GoVolsXtra.com that Strong would jump at the opportunity at Tennessee if offered the position.

I think we will be fine if we land Fedora. He could have the same impact Sumlin has had at A&M. He even beat Sumlin when he was at Houston. Just got to give him a lot of money to go get some elite assistants

He took his assistants with him from S. Miss to NC. What makes you think he'd not want to do the same thing at TN? It would be great for continuity, but recruiting would suffer.

I think you're right. Gruden won't go anywhere in college if its not UT. We already saw that with Arkansas. I have no doubt in my mind that Gruden would turn it down in a heartbeat. He wants to compete against the best anyways... not the B10. haha

No, I dont think so. I think it was all Gruden until 11/30 and after that date, Hart has been rushing around looking for an alternative.
