Official release on Pearl firing... comments and terms

Pearl will be paid at his current salary rate through June 30, 2011. He will also receive $50,000 per month for 12 months, from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012, and will also receive health insurance costs. This cumulative figure is $948,728.

Additionally, the coaching staff will each be paid at their current salary rate through July 31, 2011.

Just read our illustrious AD's statement outlining the deal. So, what was the March, 2011 deal? That's not the bump infraction...so...anyone know the details?

I assume the 'additional violations' and 'non-NCAA-related incidents' will be learned soon following the filing of a Freedom of Information Request.....right, journalists???

Who knows, and even if...has the administration earned any trust at all.

The last statement, the apology by Mr. Hamilton about the ill timed comments, is simply not true. What are we to believe? That the AD at UT did not know when the NCAA tournament started? That the van load of players and coaches wasn't headed out of town when the interview played. That they wouldn't be asked about it before the game?

They were intentionally timed comments.
Calling them ill timed infers he made a mistake, and he did no such thing. He or his bosses thought they were laying some groundwork, showing how out of touch they actually are. It wasn't necessary. They miscalculated and are inept.

the worst thing about pearl being fired is that most players that liked him as coach like the two brothers in mississippi probally marked ut off list and the big guy from nigeria,and even tobias will probally leave even though i think he needs another year or two to be nba ready.harris will be playing in nba developmental leauge
