As a football coach I have honestly never witnessed a game called so bad on so many levels by a coach.

Their entire defensive secondary was injured and we took no shots. We played conservative the entire game and it bit us right on the ass.

No play action? We pretty much ran the ball at will except when they had 8/9 guys in the box. A play action pass would have killed them time after time. Especially with their whole secondary and best defensive player off the field.

Fake FG!?!!??!!? What in Gods name
was Butch thinking here? One of many just horrible calls.

Last 3rd and 4- they have 8/9 in the damn box and we run the ball right back up the middle into the rush. I was literally begging Jesus he would use a naked boot with Dobbs or atleast a toss or jet sweep with pig to get outside the box.

This loss was huge in so many ways, the biggest one to me is it puts a lot of doubt as to if Butch can really get it done in game. He an this coaching staff completely blew this game. Vanderbilt could not have gift wrapped it any more and we just blew the whole damn thing.

And on a side note if Josh Dobbs is our future I would be damn sure to start looking for someone else bc he was as bad as I've seen a QB tonight.

Did anyone else ever think in their lifetime they'd see Tennessee and Florida both in the cellar of the CFB world at the same time?

I could have went on but i just couldn't do any more. It really does socks to be out coached but ****ing Vanderbilt. I don't care how good his recruits are if that's how this staff calls a game. You have to throw the damn ball more than once every other drive, and that's in every level from pee wee to pro!

I really like Butch and I think he'll do a "good enough" job for us. But his absolute ceiling, IMO is what Ron Zook did at Florida. Stock the cupboard, sell the program, allow us to win 7-9 games a year with consistency. But his gimmick offense, his aversion to power football, and his lack of killer instinct will ultimately be his undoing. I truly hope I'm wrong, but I haven't seen anything this year to make me believe he's any better as a 'game-day X's and O's coach' than Derek Dooley.

We didn't run the ball at will - not even close. Don't care what anyone says, our oline sucks. Were it not for turnovers, they would have beat us by at least a couple more TDs. We just are not good, and my bet is we're in for at least one more bad year. Might be respectable in '15. I agree the coaching/game management was horrendous.

Tennessee has been there a while. Florida is new to the party. Foley won't go bargain hunting when he finds Muschump's replacement.

If all the other qb's were hurt and Dobbs can't complete a three yard pass then my question is, "Is the water boy hurt too!"

Franklin is in his 3rd year at Vandy and will be taking his third Vandy team to a third bowl game in a row!!! Think about that for a minute....

In what world has Vandy's roster been better than Tennessee's in the same period.

Please tell me sir, how in the heck can they pass the ball more if they can't complete a pass? What did you honeslty want him to do with Dobbs sucking up?

Re: your title. No, it wasn't. You can't judge coaching.

BJ needs to take a good look at his coaches at the end of the season. You can't practice day after day, week after week and not improve.:bad:

I agree. I'm not a fan of scheme for the sake of scheme. It has ever made sense to me (power football Iincluded).

He lack of a killer instinct is worrisome. It first showed it's ugly head in the Oregon game. It was on full display tonight. It is the single most worrisome trait about CBJ this far.

I'm not sure about the worst but I will agree the play action pass would have suckered them particularly on the third and two when they had nine frocking players in the box. They sold out to stop the run and predictably we ran the ball.
