You need to get out of this old UT fan mindset that we will only land 1 elite player in each position group per class and that top guys are afraid of competition. This hasn't stopped UGA, BAMA, tOSU and other schools over the past 10 years.
tOSU just signed three 5* WR's in the same class. UGA has two 5* safeties the past 2 years, 2 more high 4 stars, and they have two top 50 safeties committed in the 24' class and are the favorites for KJ Bolden another 5* safety. Bama seems to sign two or three 5*'s at OL, usually one 5* RB and a 4* RB, typically two 5* LB's and a couple 5* DL's every year.
This is how the big boy schools recruit and stack players. UGA lost 13 guys on defense to the draft last year and trotted out a new set of guys and continued to dominate this year with 9 new starters.
BAMA and tOSU and Clemson to a certain extent have all been stacking multiple high 4* and 5*'s in certain position groups consistently.
Hell just watching the UT boards doubt the Merklinger kid for the past few months because apparently no one would dare sit and play behind Nico for a few years is very telling about how negative and beaten down your typical UT fan is. I get it, but this is a new era. Also, most of the truly top players don't care about depth charts, most care about getting developed for the NFL, the opportunity to win championships, and now NIL. Finally, we have a staff that develops players into elite players, an improving roster that has us starting to contend for the BCS playoffs, and a good NIL collective.
We are leaders for Ricardo Jones, Travaris Banks, Boo Carter (who i think is trending to playing on offense) Edrees Farooq, and are in good shape with Fred Gaskin III as well. KJ Bolden is on campus and he's visited and liked us for awhile, so lets see how this visit goes.
Then at CB, we are in the top group with Aaron Scott, Ify Obidegwu, Chase Tyler.
